When remodeling her house she wanted a second front door and her husband disagreed. This led to her telling of her sexual assault. What a load of crap.
Of course she is 'terrified'. It has gone much farther than she ever expected. She thought she could toss a grenade and then hide. Telling the truth is easy. Lying before Congress to the entire nation is not an easy thing to do. No wonder she is scared to death. Would she be 'terrified' if she was telling the truth? I doubt it.

And at this point, all she really has to do is avoid perjury and appear sympathetic at the hearing. Dems will wave the phony "corroborating statements" (every single major media outlet instantly called them that programming the public mind) and demand further investigation.
Ford actually said that Mark and Brett had obviously been drinking BEFORE they arrived at the gathering. Good trap set my Mitchell.
There is no way Ford could know this since she had to give her "best estimate" of how she spent the day before the gathering.
I don’t know what sexual assault really is, because I don’t classify my experiences of being repeatedly backed into a corner and physically blocked “assault.†Maybe it is by legal standards, I don’t know.

The fact that Ford was driven home from an attempted rape, yet cannot tell us who drove her home, is very curious. The person who was one-on-one with her immediately after the incident could provide us valuable insight. Yet Ford can't tell us who it was.
So hard to listen to the dems.
The question is whether or not this really happened or not. Not whether or not this is "good" for what political party.
The ultimate question that must be gotten to is "Why would she lie?" That has to be nailed.
The ultimate question that must be gotten to is "Why would she lie?" That has to be nailed.
No, that's not the question. The incident likely happened, but was perceived differently by Ford and Kavanaugh. Ford may be ginning this up as attempted rape and sexual assault; but I can believe that she remembers the single most salient aspect from her perspective - a hand being placed over her mouth. Kavanaugh likely has no choate memories of the incident at all, since from his perspective nothing memorable happened, just boisterous hi-jinks. As Ford testifies, K and Mark Judge were laughing - hardly the mindsets of predators. Keep in mind that Ford and Kavanaugh never had another encounter after the party. I can understand perfectly why both may be telling the truth from their perspectives.
And that is why the question becomes how Kavanaugh can present the issue of "two truths" in its best possible light. To me, the approach that may save him is tactical contrition - an acknowledgement of the difference in their perspectives, and the possibility that he may have acted, as a 17 year old drinking beer with buddies, in a way that was upsetting to her. With that possibility acknowledged, he can then apologize for his teenage actions and criticize the party culture that was all too prevalent back in those days when the drinking age in many places was only 18.
He needs to turn this into a positive - not by admitting to assault, but by owning up to the bravado and insensitivity of beer-fueled teenage encounters, and pointing to the rest of his life as evidence that he has grown into a responsible adult.

In October 2016, one month before Donald Trump defeated Hillary Clinton in the U.S. Presidential election, a document was released by WikiLeaks that showed the Clinton campaign's use of Haberman to place sympathetic stories in Politico. "[The Clinton campaign] has a very good relationship with Maggie Haberman of Politico over the last year. We have had her tee up stories for us before and have never been disappointed. While we should have a larger conversation in the near future about a broader strategy for reengaging the beat press that covers HRC, for this we think we can achieve our objective and do the most shaping by going to Maggie."[11]

I think the biggest blow landed so far is the testimony about flying. Ford has flown numerous times in the past without incident. She obviously stated she did not want to fly because it would delay the hearing. In other words, she lied for political motives. It is not too much of a stretch to believe she might lie about other things for political motives as well.
I remember seeing an article on Ford's left wing activist activities. Why isn't that being brought up in testimony?
Someone with a serious genetic predisposition toward anxiety can easily take a relatively minor thing and elevate it in her mind to the point that it becomes a major trauma. Someone with this condition can also fantasize about a certain thing and then over the years cement it in the memory so that it is believed to have been real.
These are the two biggest developments so far, as far as I can see.
The other interesting testimony is Ford's acknowledgement that she has a genetic predisposition toward PTSD and anxiety. I believe her about that. I think there's now a deliberate misreading going on. The vast majority of those who were casting doubt on Ford's allegations were NOT accusing her of lying. They were saying that she provided no corroborating evidence and that memory is faulty. (1/)
I like this hurt little girl speak that Ford is putting out. I've known a number of female professors in college. None of them talked like that.
As screwed up as the proceedings are going, she as yet has not provided any corroboration to any of her tales. No matter how believable toads like Judge Napolitano and Chris Wallace say she is, it's still a he said she said situation. And she's still lacking any evidence.

Aren't they being told what to say? If not, they're too stupid to be on Fox.
I find her completely uncredible. The question of who drove her there and back home that night.... she doesn't remember? She's lying. There couldn't have been 'that many people' that drove her around at night. She knows exactly who it was, but won't say because she knows that person would ALSO not corroborate her "story", just as her best friend and the other three people at that (nonexistent) party didn't corroborate her "story".
QFTAgain, not denying that Ford might have been sexually assaulted by someone. But there are so many holes in her story you would have to be the most gullible person in the world to believe her despite not one person corroborating her story.

But Judge Kavanaugh is going to have to demonstrate credibility himself as he deals with the reality that Ford has testified with 100 percent certainty that he had an encounter with her.Because she claimed it happened doesn't mean it happened. In a court of law evidence is required. Saying someone has to believed because she sounds believable is no standard of proof.

Most interesting dynamic today to me is that my male Republican friends think Kavanaugh is toast now and my female Republican friends think Ford is a liar and Kav should be confirmed.
Somewhere along the line someone had better ask Americans if they are comfortable living in a country where an uncorroborated charge is enough to condemn and completely upend one's life. Be sure, the principle will find its way into the legal system, there will be no coming back up this slippery slope.

Gossip destroys lives all the time. The Dems are evil for seeking to destroy a good man, no question about it. But this is not a trial, this is a morality play. There may be different versions of the truth, and the job now is to try to reconcile and explain those differences, and to place the incident in proper perspective.

But she called someone on her cell phone in... 1982.
Yeah, right.
Respectfully disagree. The GOP exemplifies feckless in motion.
I've been wondering myself whether Ford will be viewed differently by women than by men. My wife, on first seeing seeing her at the hearing, described Ford as having "crazy eyes." I've been watching the hearing on Fox while at work, with the sound off and closed captioning on, and if I was being kind I would describe Ford as looking extremely neurotic and emotionally fragile. If I was being unkind I would describe her as looking completely crazycakes. That's just going by how she looks and not what she's saying.

Here is the defense as far as I am concerned.
1. Ford claims that in addition to the Kavanaugh event, she has a genetic predisposition to PTSD and anxiety. Her own testimony.
2. There is a body of science that shows people with a genetic predisposition toward PTSD are more likely to produce false memories. Here is just one example, but there are many others:
https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC5665161/ (https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC5665161/)
To quote from the research:
"Our review suggests that individuals with PTSD, a history of trauma, or depression are at risk for producing false memories...."
Given that there is zero corroborating evidence, it is entirely likely that Dr. Ford is experiencing a false memory based on some event that happened to her in her teenage years. This is a more plausible explanation than the one that says Ford is telling the truth while four other witnesses are lying.
BTW: It could well be that some disbarment proceedings are in some lawyers at this hearing today's future.

WASHINGTON — Most Supreme Court appointments are in a way inconsequential. A conservative replaces a conservative, a liberal replaces a liberal, and the court’s basic direction is unchanged.
That is not the case with the nomination of Judge Brett M. Kavanaugh, whose Senate confirmation hearings will begin on Tuesday. Judge Kavanaugh is considerably more conservative than the justice he would replace, Anthony M. Kennedy.
But there is a more subtle, and important, reason that President Trump’s pick of Judge Kavanaugh could remake the court. His confirmation would result in a rare replacement of the court’s swing justice, moving Chief Justice John G. Roberts Jr. — a much more reliably conservative vote than Justice Kennedy — to the court’s ideological center.
It has been more than 80 years since a chief justice was the swing vote. If Chief Justice Roberts assumes that position, legal scholars said, he will lead a solid five-member conservative majority that would most likely restrict access to abortion...

Judge Moore was removed from his own office on the Alabama Supreme Court itself (or however that procedure works) 2 times. This is hardly impeccable service as one said the other day.
Roy Moore is right that on its face, Granade’s order doesn’t require state probate judges all over Alabama — who weren’t named in the case Granade heard — to issue marriage licenses. Granade merely instructed Alabama’s attorney general not to enforce the state’s same-sex-marriage ban. That means a probate judge could go along with her decision

There's a power imbalance at either end. Trying to stay at the midpoint is the hard part. This is why we can't have nice things ;(.

“So what’s the difference between the Kavanaugh and Moore situations?
McConnell’s political self-interests, that’s what.
With Moore, the Senate majority leader was hoping to freeze out a Trumpian extremist who threatened to tip the power balance in the chamber away from the establishment politicians whom McConnell controls.
McConnell at that point was also battling President Donald Trump himself, with McConnell on the defensive from attacks by Trump for failures on the repeal of Obamacare and other key initiatives.
But McConnell’s situation has firmed up since then, and now he’s completely changed his tune.â€

Comparing Roy Moore with Bret Kavanaugh can't be done. It's like trying to compare a scummy little lawyer who works out of a walk-up over a fish market & takes bets on the side to the college quarterback with a 4.0 and a Colgate smile. It just doesn't jell.

I thought he said it in the past tense though. He sure didn't sound like they were now.

Bold added. I think it would serve the country well if that ends up the takeaway from all this. Conservative or Republican or whatever you want to call it messaging really must include the fact that the left is so desirous of power that there is NO low that they will not stoop to to achieve it. Killing babies, confiscating your wealth, your guns, your dignity are the things we know they want to use their power for - what else might they want to do that makes this loathsome display we saw today make sense? Whitehouse is believing Ford just because she said it and he wants it to be true. She had no evidence to prove her claim.
He didn't find Kavanaugh credible because he didn't want him to be credible. Kavanaugh had EVIDENCE (his calendar and those supposed to be there said they were not). So, Whitehouse didn't find him credible because he wants him out no matter what the evidence is that he didn't do it.
It is the same committee scenario with all of the Democrats and a few of the Republicans who aren't Republicans. They will not believe ANY evidence these charges are not true because they want him out no matter what the truth is.
Lindsey Graham knows the truth of what they are doing, and he said it OUT LOUD yesterday. No one else had the guts to say it.

If Flake supports Kavanaugh then it is proof that he intends to run for office again in some capacity. If he did not intend to run again for something, there would be no reason for him to betray his Democrat friends, colleagues, and family, since he is retiring from the Senate anyway.
But, he could be doing a McCain tactic. McCain was famous for telling Republicans that he was going to vote with them only to stick the knife in the back at the last minute. all the Repub chairs are empty...I have a bad feeling about this..if Flake flips it will be Grassley's fault for delaying the vote this morning....
From TOS - C210N:
A committee cannot vote without a quorum... present. In the case of a vanishing quorum, the meeting ends.
OTOH, the Judiciary committee has its own collection of rules they would have put in place over the years... which may or may not alter vanishing quorum situations.

none of this would be an issue right now. My question is.... why? Why is Grassley doing this (allowing it)?
all the Repub chairs are empty...I have a bad feeling about this..if Flake flips it will be Grassley's fault for delaying the vote this morning....
Looks like they're taking a break before the vote to me.
I think Grassley is cut from the same cloth as Sessions. They are old-timey politicians, from a time where there was still a lot of knives in the back and throat cutting, but it was done politely and behind the scenes. They have a really hard time publicly confronting their opponents. And, Grassley actually did much better throughout this whole process than I would have expected.

Here’s the math on Kavanaugh’s nomination:
51 GOP - 2 undecided = 49
49 Dems - 2 undecided = 47
All four undecideds need to vote NO, or he will be confirmed 50-50 with a Pence tie-breaker.

The big picture question is whether this will be the norm from now on.
September 28 marks the day where the Republicans allowed the Democrats to defeat Judge Kavanaugh without a vote. They have now placed his fate in the same hands of the people that gave us Bob Mueller, Peter Strzok, Andrew McCabe, Lisa Page, etc.

What do we expect Kav to say? Shove it?
It was Chris Coons, friend of Flake, who got him pulled aside to reconsider.
Chris Coons is in there because idiot voters in Delaware and donors around the country pumped in money to support a terrible candidate known as Christine O'Donnell just because she had a pretty face and parroted the conservative line. Everyone knew she'd get blown away, of course, but she got record donations from around the country. And so, instead of a marginal GOP vote, we got far-left Chris Coons entrenched in that seat.
So not only did we have what would probably have been a YES vote turned into a NO vote, but we had someone who twisted Flake.
Then you have Akin giving the seat to a Dem in 2012.
And, of course, Roy Moore.
I hope this is a reminder to find good candidates, not just go for ideology.

They had designs not to even let Roy Moore take his Senate seat if he had won the election, that would have been another fight right there.
The nomination of a textualist judge is the proper move in order to potentially reverse decisions like Roe v. Wade and hand the abortion issue back to the states "where it belongs given the Constitution’s silence on the matter," according to the editors. They add, however, that Brett Kavanaugh is not that judge, given the current circumstances.
How are they even going to begin an investigation with no date, no time, no location, no corroborating witnesses (quite the contrary)? I'm serious. How?

I have repeatedly said Judge Brett Kavanaugh is one of the most highly qualified people who has ever been nominated to serve on the Supreme Court. I doubt any person nominated to the Court has ever been looked at as closely as Judge Kavanaugh.

Having said that, I respect my colleagues who have requested the supplemental FBI investigation, which will be limited in scope and time. It can be done quickly and then we will be able to move forward to an up-or-down vote in the Senate next week.

Kavanaugh is obliged to follow the law per being a judge on the lower court. This may be where Moore ran into problems, unilaterally establishing law on his own. Kavanaugh has also said Supreme Court can overturn precedent.
@Sighlass
THIS is what happens when you let the Washington establishment run your primaries!
https://yellowhammernews.com/algop-slams-doug-jones-opposition-to-kavanaugh-his-no-vote-betrays-our-state/
Roy Moore did no such thing! Roy Moore stood up for the State of Alabama in opposition to a grossly overreaching federal government!
The next day, the COJ issued a unanimous opinion ruling that "Chief Justice Moore has violated the Alabama Canons of Judicial Ethics as alleged by the JIC in its complaint." The COJ had several disciplinary options, including censure or suspension without pay, but because Moore's responses had indicated he would defy any similar court orders in the future, the COJ concluded that "under these circumstances, there is no penalty short of removal from office that would resolve this issue."[49] Moore was immediately removed from his post.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roy_Moore#Removal_from_office
I don't know all of the legalese but it seems the members of the Alabama Supreme Court removed Moore.
Removal:
So blame these fellow Judges in Alabama for this.
On August 14, Moore announced his intention to defy Judge Thompson's order to have the monument removed. Two days later, large rallies in support of Moore and the Ten Commandments monument formed in front of the judicial building, featuring speakers such as Alan Keyes, the Reverend Jerry Falwell, and Moore himself. The crowd peaked at an estimated count of 4,000 that day,[43] and anywhere from several hundred to over a thousand protesters remained through the end of August.
The time limit for removal expired on August 20, with the monument still in place in the building's rotunda. As specified in Judge Thompson's order, the state of Alabama faced fines of $5,000 a day until the monument was removed. In response, the eight other members of the Alabama Supreme Court intervened on August 21, unanimously overruled Moore, and ordered the removal of the monument.[44]
Moore said that Thompson, "fearing that I would not obey his order, decided to threaten other state officials and force them to remove the monument if I did not do so. A threat of heavy fines was his way of coercing obedience to that order," an action that Moore saw as a violation of the Eleventh Amendment to the United States Constitution.[24]
On August 27, the monument was moved to a non-public side room in the judicial building.[45] The monument was not immediately removed from the building for several reasons—pending legal hearings, the monument's weight, worries that the monument could break through the floor if it was taken outside intact, and a desire to avoid confrontation with protesters massed outside the structure. The monument was not actually removed from the state judicial building until July 19, 2004.[46]

This investigation buys Flake's vote and with 4 undecided maybe the 50th vote too.
It is the only play we have to save K.
What's the point? They're not going to vote for confirmation.

I refuse to give up.
But..... it's the Democrats' play... not the GOP's. It is NEVER a good idea to make a play your opposition (enemy) wants.
I'm at the point (let's just end this insanity) where I think the GOP should just have the damned vote. Let the RINOs risk going on record against Kavanaugh at their own risk. This should have been done yesterday, while emotional pro-Kav sentiments were at the highest levels. Now? Lost opportunity, IMO.
I would have voted for Moore but not happily. I think nonetheless, it's a fascinating case to discuss even well before the allegations. Just his judicial record was interesting enough.
Makes good sense. Let the politcal chips fall where they may. And my thoughts are they are going to backfire on the dims.

Once Moore got the nomination, they should have been behind him. If you don't like him, simply primary him out next time, but the time to get rid of Moore was in the primary and it didn't happen. But you never reward a Democrat for GOP stupidity, no matter what.
This has been part of the problem for years. Both parties are always concerned with optics and positioning for the next election. They rarely do something based on their stated principles. It's why people are so frustrated with their representatives.
Right. The RINOs and rats sink Kav in the vote. The voters remember that pertinent fact at the polls this November. Trump swoops in and pulls a rabbit out of his hat....lol.
It turns out the woman screaming in Flake’s face yesterday is Ana Maria Archila, co-executive director of Soros-funded Center for Popular Democracy and Center for Democracy Action Fund.

According to Dr. Ford, she would have preferred to have been interviewed in California, away from the spectacle of a public hearing. But her lawyers apparently refused to convey to their client numerous offers by Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley to conduct a public or private interview in the location of her choosing. The lawyers' refusal led directly to a public hearing, against Dr. Ford's express wishes. This is deeply troubling.

I wonder if her lawyers set up this partisan circus, if there might be some sort of law they broke or even violating lawyer ethics. I'm no lawyer. Just speculation.

Not arguing with you; just a comment: she didn't employ them, she wasn't paying them, she wasn't their client.
@TomSea
If her lawyers failed to advise her of the committee's good faith offers they can and should be disbarred.
Then again... if she is really "in on this torpedo Kav campaign", she's lying about that, too. It's quite possible that they all agreed that they needed the public exposure with the "on tv" hearing.
She lied about the polygraph test going on and on (only two questions) and about her "fear of flying" (she flies all the time). So what ELSE is she lying about? Everything, IMO.
Not arguing with you; just a comment: she didn't employ them, she wasn't paying them, she wasn't their client.
That's an interesting observation. She didn't pay them, but they sent and accepted correspondences on her behalf, doesn't that make them her attorneys, whether she paid them or not?
No. Not unless it was set up that way from the beginning. If they asked her to hire them while saying that some benefactor was paying the bills, then perhaps. But I seriously doubt that is how it went down. They are clearly working for an outside interest and are dragging her along for the ride.
Gregg Jarrett: In Kavanaugh battle, are Ford's lawyers representing her, or the Democrats?
Gregg Jarrett
Professor Christine Blasey Ford – who has accused Supreme Court nominee Judge Brett Kavanaugh of sexually assaulting her some 36 years ago – may well have been betrayed and victimized by her own attorneys, who are Democratic activists with a record of fierce opposition to President Trump.
As a result, the attorneys ostensibly representing Ford may have breached their client’s trust and violated their ethical responsibility to act in her best interests. They may instead be motivated primarily by a desire to block President Trump’s appointment of a conservative justice to the nation’s highest court. An investigation of their conduct is warranted to determine if this is the case.
Kavanaugh has strongly denied Ford’s claim that he groped her, tried unsuccessfully to take off her clothes, and covered her mouth to stop her from screaming when the two were high school students. “I’ve never sexually assaulted anyone,†he told the Senate Judiciary Committee at his confirmation hearing Thursday.

Almost 70 pages and if I'm not mistaken, never locked, Kudos to all Briefers.
Here's another thing, reading the comments to one of the articles.... I'm not sure if the "body language" matter was posted here... but I saw something on that.
That she came off with that "little girl talk" and it did seem she did and other "signs of being coached"... I'm not saying I buy all of this that some expert analyzed her body language and presentation but it's not a bad thing to consider... so then, that leaves us where we started from, that she may well be part of the plot, part of the "resistance".
Scrapped that article but I did read different ones.
I see analysis of Brett's body language too in articles, I trust if someone is interested in that, they can find it for themselves.
Quite a number of articles out there on all of this.
The articles out there are by liberals, and they say Ford was calm and collected, while Kav was agitated and angry, indicating deception. It wouldn't have made any difference if Ford was agitated and angry and Kavanaugh appeared calm and collected. They would say Ford's anger was justified and Kavanaugh's coolness indicated he was a smug, conscienceless, frat boy who knew he could get away with it.

There's almost no way you can get people, liberals, who judge things on emotions and feelings to think objectively. Thinking subjectively is a prime asset for being a liberal.

GOP-hired prosecutor questions credibility of Kavanaugh accuser Christine Blasey Ford
Arizona prosecutor Rachel Mitchell, who was hired by Senate Judiciary Committee Republicans to question Judge Brett Kavanaugh and his accuser Christine Blasey Ford during the committee's hearing into allegations of sexual assault against Kavanaugh, questioned the credibility of her accusations and called the case "weak" in her assessment of Ford's allegations.
In a memo to Senate Republicans, Mitchell details nine main points she says raise questions about the credibility of Ford's account. She concludes no prosecutor would bring the case, nor is the evidence sufficient to prevail even in a civil trial.
"In the legal context, here is my bottom line: A "he said, she said" case is incredibly difficult to prove. But this case is even weaker than that," wrote Mitchell.

Just in case, no one has seen this, it sounds like Mrs. Kavanaugh requested Psalm 40 and prayer for their travails.

On to other, it sounded like on Fox yesterday, they said there are likely 49 yes votes at this point. They did not seem to be counting the fence-sitters, including Manchin in West Virginia and even McCaskill in Missouri. Both of these two Ds are in hotly contested Senate races.
If this was posted already, just posting again in this thread. I did not know she detailed 9 points that make Dr. Ford not look credible.
I got that email request yesterday from a friend. I kind of take this whole thing personally, since Mrs. Kavanaugh and I attended the same school and her family still lives here.

Agreed. That republicans have not yet acknowledged that - the *fact* that democrats, liberals, progressives are not dealing honestly and will never deal honestly - indicates that republicans are at best naive. It's long past time to stop trying to "reach across the aisle" and "find common ground." It's long past time that republicans struck to create an advantage and then maintained that initiative.
I didn't support Trump during the nominating contest and I'm still not a Trump supporter, although I can support some of the policies his administration has pursued. But for establishment republicans to not see that their rank and file are fed up with being played like fools is just incomprehensible. Trump won the nomination because the republican base is angry, and he embodied that anger.
No matter the outcome of any additional investigations, the democrats will argue it against Kavanaugh. Republicans need to acknowledge this and stop offering deals. People like Flake, Collins, and Murkowski should be primaried *by the party* to end this nonsense.
I guess, if one were Catholic too, they could say they have a personal bond to the situation as the Kavanaughs are of that faith. But I don't tend to make it about me. @mrpotatohead I believe one member here, made an assertion in the past about Trump's treatment of Cruz being "unforgivable. So, let's not forget, without Trump as president, Kavanaugh would not have been nominated.
Can anyone explain to me how this works. The polygraphs I have undergone required a number of base line questions, depending on the operator or the reason any between 5-10. two questions is not enough to set a baseline much less determine veracity with any level of confidence.
In addition she says that the polygraph took a really long time and yet the person who administered the test only asked her two questions.

In speaking about the Bible, I would not forget that one forum member said, what Trump said about Cruz was unforgivable.
But we are talking about the Bible. Mine says to forget. If Trump were not president, there would be no Kavanaugh nominee.Cruz camp video claimed Rubio insulted the Bible! No longer available (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qo3qKI1fQGE#)
What else may we deem unforgivable? @mrpotatohead Perhaps, we should remember, some forum member's view, I forget who, would have precluded even the nomination.

That's how it's been for me as well. They set the baseline then they have a series of questions that are asked specific to the case.
All they asked her was two very softball questions and they were done.
Makes no sense at all.
Someone is off their meds again. *****rollingeyes*****
Unless it was just a political stunt.
@Sanguine yup that's all it was.
The questions were 1) did you lie about the incident and 2) is anything in your statement false?
And that was it.

Trump Wins Ted Cruz's Vote With Supreme Court List
Todd Ruger
Updated 5:15 p.m. | Texas Sen. Ted Cruz’s endorsement of Donald Trump came only hours after the Republican presidential nominee had put his friend and colleague Utah Sen. Mike Lee on a list of potential Supreme Court picks.
And even though Lee had expressed disinterest in being included on Trump’s list Friday, the potential court pick was a central part of Cruz’s reasoning for changing gears and backing Trump.
In a Facebook post, Cruz said the Supreme Court hangs in the balance in the election. He said Lee “would make an extraordinary justice†and cited Trump’s “explicit commitment†to nominate only from “a very strong†list of 21 potential nominees.

Exactly.
Prove it.
Gee you sound just like a Democratic senator.
I didn't make the claim...ask @Hoodat he's the one that made the claim.
Personal attack noted.
There is apparently no backup for this claim. Sorry, that you want this forum to discuss matters dishonestly.
Prove it.
Trump's original eleven:
- Steven Colloton
- Allison Eid
- Raymond Gruender
- Thomas Hardiman
- Raymond Kethledge
- Joan Larsen
- Thomas Lee
- William Pryor
- David Stras
- Diane Sykes
- Don Willett
Here we are two years after the Republican National Convention, yet there are people on this forum who still show contempt for Ted Cruz and the Conservatism he upholds.

That wasn't a personal attack. But hey whatever snowflake.
That's pretty hypocritical coming from the guy that posted that crap about Cruz a few posts back. You're just upset because I called you on it.
YOU are the one that likes to "to discuss matters dishonestly" and you have a long documented history of it.
Now focus and try to stay on topic and don't go off on one of your unrelated totally whimsical Ted Cruz rants.
There are clearly a number of non-Conservatives on this forum.
You are nothing but personal attacks right now... and as we now see, that Cruz placed the name on the list shows this was not a true statement yet, you name-call over that. I saw someone else mention your attacks and how they were putting you on ignore.
I will not spend one more second on this. You are deflecting on the issue, making accusations. No reason to spend another second here.
We see now the intial untruth of saying Cruz put Kavanaugh's name on the list.
Well, if there are non-conservatives on this forum, that certainly applies to you. I didn't abandon the pro-life cause over my own personal hurt feelings over an individual but make personal attacks if you have to. You are breaking forum rules and yes, you are doing that.
I think Hoodat was making a joke.
Besides, being Christian, supporting Romney and then Trump, my views actually line up with Cruz's; more than the cussing posting girly pictures crowd does.
I have no time to give to TRG, you or anyone else, who feel you must abuse posters here.
To me the most notable thing is that Barrett was the last addition, and is now presumably the next in line.

I'd love to see her take over for RBG. I just hope Judge Barrett and the others on Trump's list are taking notes of what is happening with Judge Kavanaugh and prepare for what's going to get tossed at them if they get the call from the WH.
@catfish1957, are you molesting posters again? I thought you were told to stop that!
Kavanaugh was already on Mitt Romney's list in 2012.

Here are the ten names that were added in Sept 2016:
- Mike Lee
- Neil Gorsuch
- Margaret Ryan
- Edward Mansfield
- Keith Blackwell
- Charles Canady
- Timothy Tymkovich
- Amul Thapar
- Frederico Moreno
- Robert Young
Still no Kavanaugh on Trump's list.
One year after the election, the White House 25 names on "Donald Trump's Supreme Court List (https://www.whitehouse.gov/briefings-statements/president-donald-j-trumps-supreme-court-list/)". The five names added to that list from 14 months prior are:
- Amy Coney Barrett
- Britt Grant
- Brett Kavanaugh
- Kevin Newsom
- Patrick Wyrick
Now sure, you can argue that there is no record of Ted Cruz penning in Kavanaugh's name on the 2017 list. But one thing is clear. Sometime during a 14-month period where Cruz and Trump held private meetings more than once, the names of five staunch Conservatives found their way onto that list. So clearly, someone other than Trump was able to influence the selection process by diluting the moderate sway of the original 11 with the addition of judges who are to the right of Scalia.
Personally, I am grateful to Conservatives like Ted Cruz who have been able to project a strong Conservative influence on the process, and who have persevered over the unjust attacks of Trump sycophants - attacks that are no different than the ones Kavanaugh faces today. And because of that, we now have a Neil Gorsuch (not on Trump's original list) on the court, and the possibility of a Kavanaugh, a Mike Lee, and/or a Amy Barrett joining him.
God bless Ted Cruz.

At least, honesty reigned. Kavanaugh was a selection by Romney, Romney met with Trump, Kavanaugh was in the Ken Starr investigation on Bill Clinton, Kavanaugh was in the Bush administration.
That's beautiful and all. Yet it was only after Trump met with Cruz that Kavanaugh's name appeared on the list.
No proof, say all of the flowery words one wants.
Just like saying Dr. Ford's lawyers, her counsel, er, aren't her counsel. Er, lawyers, confusing isn't it.

Oh, but like the Border Wall and the Constitution, another thing that Ted Cruz invented. Maybe next time, we can revisit some of the landmark legislation he passed or representing Obamacare in the private sector, the list goes on.
Tom, I'm sorry this is so confusing for you, but maybe we could stick to the topic and no go off on rabid Cruz rabbit trails? The thread is about justice.
Let me get this straight here. Even though Ted Cruz has focused on the Courts in pushing the Conservative agenda with a history of arguing cases before the Supreme Court as well as a history of influencing Trump's judge list (by your own admission), it is really Mitt "Romneycare" Romney and Noot "Wilsonian Progressive" Gingrich that deserve the credit for getting Kavanaugh's name on that list.
BWAAAHAAAHAAAAAAHAAAAAA !!!!!
@Sanguine More like a rabbit hole.
Worst case of Cruz derangement syndrome on record by far!
I'm way more for Cruz than you are
