It was Chris Coons, friend of Flake, who got him pulled aside to reconsider.

Chris Coons is in there because idiot voters in Delaware and donors around the country pumped in money to support a terrible candidate known as Christine O'Donnell just because she had a pretty face and parroted the conservative line.  Everyone knew she'd get blown away, of course, but she got record donations from around the country.  And so, instead of a marginal GOP vote, we got far-left Chris Coons entrenched in that seat.

So not only did we have what would probably have been a YES vote turned into a NO vote, but we had someone who twisted Flake.

Then you have Akin giving the seat to a Dem in 2012.

And, of course, Roy Moore.


I hope this is a reminder to find good candidates, not just go for ideology.

That's of course, good analysis, however,

The people are voting.

The GOP should not necessarily abandon their candidates when they run into a rough patch.

So, it's a bit more than just saying these were bad candidates imho.

Yesterday, after Judge Kavanaugh's testimony, I thought he would be approved by the full Senate. Today, after Flake's betrayal, I no longer believe that he will be approved. Time will tell.

I had thought I might reconsider my pledge to stay home in November if the Republicans had the balls to get this nomination done and say the H with you to the Dem whiners.  Instead, the Republicans true to form caved to the Democrats and are going to let them sink the nomination as was their plan all along. I wouldn't be surprised if McConnell and maybe Grassley are in league with the Democrats and were only putting on a show to entertain Republican voters.  That's all the  doings in DC are now -- show.  They don't really give a [expletive] for the voters -- their employers.

I remain optimistic, so long as the FBI investigation is limited in scope to Ford and not the other copycats.  If this gives cover for Collins, Murkowski, Flake and Manchin to vote to confirm,  then that's a good thing.

My disgust with democrats is at an all time high.  I think it is time to craft carefully planned boycotts and planned expenditures that damages everyone with democrat loyalties.  National.....   State......   and Local Level.   I know it might be impossible in some cases, but a blanket effort by every conservative could do some damage.
