Flake said only the Ford matter would be investigated, extra stuff can't come in. 1 week for the FBI isn't much and I think Trump would have to authorize it as well, maybe it's just up to the Senate. I don't know.

Brett Kavanaugh’s nomination will next be considered by the entire Senate, where Republicans have a narrow 51-49 majority.

While it doesn’t look like the vote is going to take place quite that early, consideration of Kavanaugh’s nomination was previously set to hit the floor on Saturday, when the Senate was set to take a procedural vote.

Due to procedural rules and expected debate on his nomination, that meant he likely wouldn’t get a vote from the full Senate until next Monday or Tuesday. It’s unclear whether this timing is still in place.

Probably just spite, as things were with McCain.  He’s done at the end of the year.  Can’t see what they could possibly give him.  Not entirely impossible, but it would be really stupid and illegal to accept a cushy future lobbying or consulting job from one of their contacts, in exchange for his vote.

Further to that.... if this so-called investigation is begun and completed with NO determination of guilt on the part of Kavanaugh....

the rabid left will merely blame Trump and say it was "Trump's FBI" that let Kavanaugh off the hook.  This will NEVER end, IOW.   Just have the damned vote already.  If it fails, recess appoint Kav.  It ain't rocket science.

That's right. That is why I do not believe there will be a week delay to 'investigate'. Since there is nothing to investigate in the first place. I'm not even sure the FBI will take the case. A 17 year old boy groping a girl at a party where they were both drinking is not exactly their forte. No date. No address. No witnesses. No details at all. Imagine if you were assigned the investigation. How would you even start?
