BREAKING: Ford's polygraph expert has been a subcontractor of the Democrat law firm representing Ford in DC. Hanafin's a "progressive" from Boston who says that when administering polygraphs on "victims" like Ford u automatically "believe them" & don't ask them specific questions

She strikes me as credible.   That doesn't mean that her truth is the whole truth.   But Judge Kavanaugh is going to have to demonstrate credibility himself as he deals with the reality that Ford has testified with 100 percent certainty that he had an encounter with her.

Somewhere along the line someone had better ask Americans if they are comfortable living in a country where an uncorroborated charge is enough to condemn and completely upend one's life. Be sure, the principle will find its way into the legal system, there will be no coming back up this slippery slope.

Aren't they being told what to say?  If not, they're too stupid to be on Fox. 

I find her completely uncredible.   The question of who drove her there and back home that night.... she doesn't remember?  She's lying.   There couldn't have been 'that many people' that drove her around at night.  She knows exactly who it was, but won't say because she knows that person would ALSO not corroborate her "story", just as her best friend and the other three people at that (nonexistent) party didn't corroborate her "story".

Most interesting dynamic today to me is that my male Republican friends think Kavanaugh is toast now and my female Republican friends think Ford is a liar and Kav should be confirmed.

We still have zero evidence and still have all these named witnesses saying they have no memory of what Ford claims.  I understand the emotion of it all, but facts are facts and there aren't any.

I think the fact that she doesn't remember where she was before the party, just a "best estimate" of being at the Columbia Country Club because she went there often is very damaging. No idea how she got there (she couldn't drive yet) and she thinks the party was near the club. No memory of how she got home over 8 miles away. No one has come forward to say they drove her.

Mitchell also got Ford to claim that Mark Judge and Brett Kavanaugh were drinking before they got to the "gathering." How on earth could Ford know that?

Again, not denying that Ford might have been sexually assaulted by someone. But there are so many holes in her story you would have to be the most gullible person in the world to believe her despite not one person corroborating her story.
So far it's basically been Dem senators: "did Kavanaugh assault you?"
Ford:"yes"
Dem senators and various talking heads :"well, that's it....Kavanaugh is definitely guilty."

Exactly....  I have heard no collaborated proof that Kav was involved in this incident. 

A new chapter in our nation has been opened......   A SCOTUS nomination can be scuttled on heresay alone.

This isn't a trial.   The Dems are working to trash Kavanaugh's reputation in order to scuttle a vote on the nomination, or convince those on the fence to vote him down.   That's all this is.   And Kavanaugh needs to be able to respond to the concerns of those on the fence.   It's not a matter of refuting the charge or claiming Ford is liar.  It is a matter of placing the incident in context as a teenage misunderstanding and to exhibit appropriate contrition, empathy and evidence of personal growth.    Yeah, you can call that touchy-feely stuff, but it's what Flake,  Manchin, Collins and Murkowski want to hear.   And that, in the end, is the only audience that matters.

There is only one point that matters in this hearing so far: Ford has not offered any new information. Nothing to substantiate allegations. Tho GOP counsel has raised some big questions about her account.

Because she claimed it happened doesn't mean it happened. In a court of law evidence is required.  Saying someone has to believed because she sounds believable is no standard of proof.

I've been wondering myself whether Ford will be viewed differently by women than by men.  My wife, on first seeing seeing her at the hearing, described Ford as having "crazy eyes."  I've been watching the hearing on Fox while at work, with the sound off and closed captioning on, and if I was being kind I would describe Ford as looking extremely neurotic and emotionally fragile. If I was being unkind I would describe her as looking completely crazycakes. That's just going by how she looks and not what she's saying.

Gossip destroys lives all the time.   The Dems are evil for seeking to destroy a good man, no question about it.   But this is not a trial, this is a morality play.   There may be different versions of the truth,  and the job now is to try to reconcile and explain those differences, and to place the incident in proper perspective.
