My spitballing on this?
1. Elections are held in the 3 eastern provinces. If they vote pro-Russia, they will form their own sovereign country, that can be allied but not part of Russia.
2. Crimea is split East and West with a DMZ.
3. Russian non-agression treaty (perpetal)
4. Ukraine will not be allowed to joing NATO
1. This already happened. Russia has held fixed elections in Donetsk, Luhansk, and Crimea. Russians living in Russia were allowed to vote in each of those elections - online. As long as Russia occupies these territories, there can be no fair elections. A non-starter for Ukraine.
2. Russia will never agree to give up any part of Crimea.
3. Where is there any treaty that Russia didn't violate? If Russia abided by treaties it signed, then there would be no war right now.
4. Already done. In fact, that is what precipitated the 2022 invasion. Russia held off its invasion until the moment Zelenskiy declared that Ukraine would not be joining NATO. Once Zelenskiy said that, the Russian Army made its move on Kyiv.
Putin didn't attack Ukraine because they wanted to join NATO. Putin attacked Ukraine once he was sure they would not.
This might seem like a tough swallow for Putin, but if he doesn't accept, Trump will tell him:
1. Sanctions and tariffs invoked to strangle Russia internationally
and
2. U.S, floods the oil market with a target of $40/bbl. The Rouble is at an all time low at about one U.S, cent. Putin has to realize that if 1 and 2, take place, Putin won't have the funds or resources to even bring his troops back.
1. Putin can live with this. The Soviets survived under sanctions for four decades.
2. This is the best weapon Trump has. But its not a negotiating tool. He should do it anyway regardless of what Putin says.
Let the rest of Europe get involved. Destroy the remainder of the Soviet Army. By the end of June, Russian casualties will surpass one million. Drive down the price of oil. Reinstitute oil sanctions on Iran. And you will see Russia losing the will to fight for Ukrainian oil fields that suddenly hold no value.
