I disagree.
The Trump I've been seeing is more restrained, especially at the debate. He seems to have learned to be more presidential. Among the things Trump seems to have learned is to keep the country club Pubs at arms length and not in a key position such as VP.
We need the VP to be a tough campaigner who can get after the Rats. Let Trump take the "high road". Vance fits this role perfectly and we get the added benefit of a young dynamic person from the next generation who can carry a successful administration forward after Trump's term is over.
I don't get all the anxiety about the America First movement. We need key manufacturing to return to the USA and if tariffs are a tool to do it I'm all for it. I think the inflation and cost concerns are over blown if expanded energy production takes place along with some restrains in spending.
Some of you forget that we do have a record from when Donald Trump was president the first time.
Will those working class voters who are now in the Trump camp instead of the Biden camp agree that increases in the cost of living are overblown? How long will they stick around in the Trump camp if we get the JD Vance currency devaluation that he seems to be so fond of?
We’ve been drilling record amounts of oil. Yet inflation persists. It persists because we are printing money to finance $2 trillion deficits, which, BTW, Trump doesn’t seem to have an issue with
Our economy no longer employees large numbers of people to be on assembly lines on factory floors. Robots and machines do the work now. Trump and Vance seem to believe that they will usher in a return to a 1950’s economy. And even if it was possible, tariffs wouldn’t do it
I think the America First movement means well. But they are terribly misguided
There was a whole thread recently dedicated to Trump’s tariff proposals, and not one single supporter of them could give any example of where Trump’s tariffs provided a positive to the economy. Not one.
And do you know what Javier Milei did as part of his effort to control inflation and improve the economy in Argentina….. lifted import controls and pushing for more free trade!!!
Free markets and free trade… I say we need more, not less, of it
