Secret Service met with Riker’s Island to prep for possible Trump jailing – report

The odds are so stacked against former President Donald J. Trump in the Stormy Daniels sham trial that the Secret Service is already making arrangements for his imprisonment.

According to a report from CBS News, representatives from the USSS have “met with local jail officials” to prepare for the possibility that rabidly partisan Judge Juan Merchan could order him to be locked up if the jury comes back with a conviction.

“It’s a possibility that officials in state and federal agencies have begun preparing for, according to a New York corrections source, who said the Secret Service has met with local jail officials,” the outlet reported.

The “local jail” for New York City is the notoriously violent Riker’s Island.

I'm surprised that Marchan the crooked Columbian judge hasn't banned the likes of Turley and Derschowitz from the courtroom.   They aren't aligned with his narrative and intent.

Donald Trump opted for no morning speech ahead of jury instructions and the start of deliberations in his hush money criminal trial. He was accompanied by his team of attorneys and son Don Jr.

Trump usually gives a few minutes to the cameras each morning before he enters the courtroom, but today he walked directly inside, ignoring shouted questions about whether he's happy with his attorneys and why he doesn't want to talk.

He gave a thumbs-up that turned into a wave before transitioning back into a thumbs-up.

The jury of 18 New Yorkers, 12 primary and 6 alternate have entered the courtroom and have been seated.

They will receive jury instructions from Merchan for about the next hour at which point they will then go to deliberate the fate of the 45th President and leading candidate for President, Donald J. Trump.

Merchan begins by explaining to the jury that he will read the instructions to the jury over the next hour and that they will not receive a written copy of his instructions. Merchan said at any time, he can read back the instructions or in full or part when requested.

Merchan now listing the limiting instructions and includes David Pecker, and Michael Cohen’s guilty pleas. He says the Jury may not consider the GLOAT’s guilty pleas when deliberating over the defendant’s guilt or innocence.

The “Honorable Judge” Merchan is now explaining the fundamental principles of our law: the presumption of innocence, the burden of proof and guilt beyond a reasonable doubt. “The people have the burden of proof beyond a reasonable doubt.”

Merchan says the jury may consider if a witness had a motive to lie and if they had a benefit in their testimony or if they had an interest.

My note: It is obvious that the jury must consider that for both Porn Star Stormy Daniels and GLOAT Michael Cohen.

Remember the Soros funded DA is alleging that President Trump is guilty of violating tax laws by paying TOO MUCH in taxes because of the alleged “gross it up” scheme.

They have gone full circle from Hillary’s 2016 campaign (fireworks available at a deep discount).

Merchan just delivered the coup de grace instruction. He said that there is no need to agree on what occurred. They can disagree on what the crime was among the three choices. Thus, this means that they could split 4-4-4 and he will still treat them as unanimous...

Jonathan Turley: Judge instructs first count of falsifying business records

Merchan has instructed that the first count of falsifying business records in the first degree must show that Trump made or causes a false entry to be made. Intent means conscious or purpose to defraud. Intent does not require an intent to defraud any particular person or entry but a general intent to defraud.

Merchan said that the crime being committed was the NY election law by “unlawful means.” However, that “unlawful means” is shown when there is a showing of intent to cause actions or the performance of conduct.

Judge reminds jurors where burden of proof rests

Judge Merchan made clear to jurors the circumstances in which they can find former President Donald Trump guilty.

The judge made clear that the burden of proof is on the people, or the prosecution in the case, and not on Trump, the defendant. Merchan also noted that Trump not testifying in the case is not to be used as a factor, telling jurors that the defendant is not the one has has to prove their own innocence and that the burden of proof never shift from the people to the defendant.

Merchan went on to explain the legal concept of burden of proof, noting that the law does not require the prosecution to prove guilt beyond all reasonable doubt. Each juror is responsible for deciding whether they are convinced beyond a reasonable doubt that the defendant is guilty or not, the judge said.

THe judge also reminded jurors that a verdict cannot rest on speculation.

Merchan instructed that Cohen is an accomplice and, as such, there is a special concern over such testimony particularly when there are benefits for testimony. There must be corroborating evidence. In other words, you may not convict the defendant solely on the basis of the testimony of Cohen.

Judge says jurors can only convict Trump with evidence that 'corroborates' Cohen's testimony

Jurors need "corroborating" evidence beyond the testimony of Michael Cohen to convict Trump of felonies, Judge Merchan said Wednesday.

Cohen, a convicted felon, is considered an "accomplice" under the law, meaning that jurors cannot convict Trump "solely" based on his testimony.

"Even if you find the testimony of Michael Cohen to be believable, you cannot convict, unless there is other corroborating evidence," the judge instructed panelists.

Merchan, the “Honorable Judge” now giving the jury the definitions for falsifying business records and intent. He continues that the people must determine if the defendant had the intent and repeats that You must decide whether there was intent and You may consider the persons conduct, what did the person do or say, was that result the natural consequence of that conduct.
