After the initial shock of today's meeting, the more I think about it, I think Trump pulled off a master stroke. Outing Z on his bait switch tactic will mightily backfire on Z.

Great point!

I was surprised with how much crap Pres. Trump put up before bringing down the hammer.
We have a beach head. Now it's time to win the war and save the Republic.

Russia will attack Europe, Europe will respond in kind, and the US will be dragged into the war.

Just not going to happen, at least not in the next five years.

If the EU tells the USA to get out, and we do, they are fine.  And I would think they would beef up their militaries somewhat.  Russia is a paper tiger, and if they couldn't deal with Ukraine, they will not deal with NATO.

Plus, at 72, there is a chance Putin is gone five years from now.  As he ages, he will not want to lead his nation to war.  His military is floundering, like they are in quicksand.  He does not have much of a future if he does not reverse the financial fortunes of Russia.

Right now, Russia is not a real threat to NATO Europe.

The news channels are throwing a hissy.  Today was a long time coming IMO and Zelenskyy needs to be moved aside so a ceasefire and then a lasting peace can be possible.

Sen Lindsay Graham never turned his back on a war of any kind, we must feed the military/industrial complex.  We know who his major contributors to his campaign are.

From DAY ONE, I never thought of Ukraine as our ally.  In WWII, they sided more with Nazi Germany.

Ukraine is fighting for their survival.  And the fact is, the USA has been training Ukrainians since 2014, if not before.  They were better trained in 2022 with the attack by Russia then than they were in 2014.  And while their numbers have been depleted, they have been nicely reinforced with US military equipment, depleting our own military to outfit the Ukrainians.

But I can't say how tired I am about Ukraine defending democracy when the fact is they are not.  Elections in Ukraine have been suspended.  Nothing democratic about it.

Trump is right, prepare to settle for peace or die alone.  If Europe were to pick up in our place, it would not last long, for they get much of their equipment from the USA.  Ukraine will be forced to settle for peace and relinquish multiple things.  My view, they should be thankful.  And this could have been negotiated two years ago when Putin realized his military was spineless.

But Z's wanting US boots on the ground, he should have known Trump would balk at that.  No way!!!!!!

Lasting peace? LOL... Surrendering doesn't result in "lasting peace".

If I hear "Putin's Puppet" one more time I might throw a bag of Rubles at the TV.

Now is a perfect time for a coup in Ukraine with Zelensky out of the country.

Looks like it's up to Europe to keep the Ruskies from building a new empire in Eastern and Central Europe.

If I was Z, I'd call the Chi-coms and make them an offer to the rights for the minerals in return for the Chi-coms 'convincing' Putin to abandon his annexation of Ukraine.

Trump will have to maintain the peace, because otherwise, it will dog him through the end of his term.  What is the alternative?  They have fought for 3 years now, the Russians are not giving up, and eventually the Ukrainians are going to require direct intervention.

The President of France, Emmanuel Macron following today’s fiery-exchange in the Oval Office between U.S. President Donald J. Trump, Vice-President JD Vance and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky:

“There is an aggressor: Russia.

There is a people under attack: Ukraine.

We were all right to help Ukraine and sanction Russia three years ago and to continue to do so.

We are Americans, Europeans, Canadians, Japanese and many others.

Thanks to all those who helped and continue. And respect to those who, since the beginning, have been fighting. Because they are fighting for their dignity, their independence, for their children and for the security of Europe.”

So you make Ukraine a vassal state of China rather than stop the fighting. If you stop the fighting you have time to rebuild your military and country.

In WWII, (Ukraine) sided more with Nazi Germany.

You've been corrected on this before. Now you're just being an ignorant ass when you repeat this ahistorical crap.

When WW2 started Ukraine was part of the USSR and Ukraine had suffered the loss of some fifteen million of their people to the goddamned Russians who starved them, raped them, murdered them, and sent them to Siberia where they were starved, raped, and murdered.

There was no Ukraine during WW2. Just the USSR and various enslaved peoples trying to fight for their freedom from those coughsuckers: Finns, Ukrainians, Estonians, Latvians, Lithuanians, Poles, etc.

Ukraine, as a vassal state of PRC is more secure than an independent Ukraine that is not a member of NATO nor the EU.

Putin would not want to have the Chi-coms on his western border, blocking Russian expansion.

Chi-coms can provide capital and security.  Ukraine gives Chi-coms more access to Europe and allows Chi-coms to check Russian expansionism into their European markets.

There are (3) world powers - Russia, China, the United States.

Russia is the weakest and most vulnerable, and they are Ukraine's aggressor.

The United States is the strongest established world power, but is unwilling to commit to long-term support and security for Ukraine.

China is a rising world power whose European markets are threatened by Russian expansion, and could use Ukraine as a spingboard for more PRC influence in Europe.

If a nation cannot rely on the United States to provide security from Russian aggression, the only remaining alternative is to pivot towards PRC.

If America leaves a power vaccum in Europe, it will either be filled by Russia or China.  If I'm Ukraine, China is the better option for Ukraine.

Ukrainians sided with Nazi Germans against Josef Stalin - their common enemy.  According to Nazi ideology the Ukrainians were subhuman Slavs whose territory was to be ethnically cleansed to make way for ethnic Germans.

We'll see what happens, I think Z may make a deal with China. He's more desperate than he was before, either that, or perhaps China already made him an offer as well.

Zelenskyy will likely no longer be Ukraine's leader by Monday.
