This is entirely Zelensky’s fault. Trump greeted him graciously, was ready to turn the page. Just said he wanted to get help Ukraine get it’s territory back. And Z comes in and gets into a fight in public? I’ve never seen anything like it in my life.

About 95% of the appropriations supposedly for Ukraine never left the USA.

What a mess.

The outcome here will be the US ending material support to Ukraine.
The Europeans will then start arming themselves.
The EU will end up as a federal government with a federalized military (something that predicated the Brexit)
The EU will exit NATO.
The US will have to exit Europe.
Russia will attack Europe, Europe will respond in kind, and the US will be dragged into the war.

This same stupid play happened when the US sat on its collective hands in the lead up to WW2 and did nothing as Hitler was appeased and then Hitler and Stalin went to war. The result was a second generation of Americans bled and died in Europe.

NATO was formed as per the words of the first NATO Secretary General Lord Ismay to, "Keep the Russians out, the Americans in, and the Germans down."

NATO kept the peace for the best part of eighty years.

And within the next year or so it will end and so with it peace.

In other topics people are saying how the US needs to rebuild our military and in this I agree. We need to do so and we need to do so right away.

Ok, I’ve now watched the opening of the Oval Office press conference. Zelinsky behaved petulantly despite Trump’s repeated attempts to be gracious at the outset. The whole thing broke down in a spectacular fashion because of Zelinsky’s inability to navigate a diplomatic situation.

Every other world leader this week demonstrated respect for the office of the President. Why did Zelenskyy believe this was a wise decision?

Two things are true.  First, Zelensky is desperate.  It shows on his face, the out right desperation.

2nd, he walked all over Joe Biden, or whoever represented the USA in dealing with him and his country.  He assumes perhaps all Americans are the same.

Trump has an aversion to wars he considers frivolous, and this is such a war.  No purpose here.  He wants to end it before NATO is thrust in the middle of it.  France wanted to send boots on the ground just a month or so ago, and I suspect Trump & Co. advised him to drop that notion.

Ukraine will be forced to relinquish land that was part of Ukraine to construct a peace with Russia.  I am sure Trump has negotiated with Putin a settlement that he will agree to, and the USA will emerge with minerals being provided to the USA.  Ukraine will be the loser in all of this, but they get to exist in peace, some 70-80% of their country.  Better that than being over taken by Russia.

And Ukraine can rebuild their military so that they are better prepared to fight Russia.

But Zelensky better wake up to the UGLY TRUTH that Trump is NOT Biden, who was a world class fool.  Otherwise, he may lose his whole country.

Folks, I think we really need to be clear about what happened today.

No, Trump and Vance didn't just go into this meeting with Zelensky as an ambush. Trump sounded very, very nice at the beginning. He hoped Zelensky was ready to sign a good deal.

Zelensky was then grandstanding in front of the media and demanding a U.S. security guarantee for any peace with Russia to happen. Basically, he lied. He got into the Oval and started sounding off.

Trump and Vance were insulted - on behalf of the USA - and acted accordingly.

Zelensky's gone now.

THAT'S what happened. This is how you handle these things. You don't let it slide. Good on Trump and Vance.
