On the morning of August 26, 2024, a massive missile attack on the Odesa region resulted in seven people being injured, including three children. This was reported by Odesa Regional Military Administration head Oleh Kiper and Odesa Mayor Hennadiy Trukhanov.

According to Oleh Kiper, among the injured are a 10-year-old boy, a 7-year-old boy, and a 10-year-old girl. All three children, along with four other injured individuals, were hospitalized in moderate condition and are receiving all necessary medical assistance. The Flakpanzer Gepard was brought into commission in Germany in the early 1970s and phased out of service in the early 2010s. It has two radar-direct 35 mm cannon. It's a good answer to drones, shells costing 10s of dollars (probably) downing drones costing hundreds or thousands of $$.

On TOS there was a post about Congress sending old Tomahawk missiles to Ukraine. I wish they'd hurry up and get it done so the Ukrainians can start bombing Moscow!  ****slapping

Hundreds of Ukrainian troops have reportedly attempted to break through Russian border points in a new incursion bid as battles continue in Kursk.

Russian Telegram channels with links to the security services said on Tuesday that Ukrainian forces had attacked a border post in Russia's southern Belgorod region, but there was no immediate official confirmation of fighting there.

Belgorod borders the Kursk region, where Ukrainian troops have seized Russian territory since staging a lightning incursion on August 6 and are still battling to seize more ground, with Kyiv saying it was making advances.

The Mash Telegram channel said around 500 Ukrainian troops had attacked two Russian checkpoints at Nekhoteyevka and Shebekino in the Belgorod region.

Mash said up to 200 Ukrainian soldiers with infantry fighting vehicles had tried to cross the border at Nekhoteyevka and were fired on by Russian artillery. It said about 300 Ukrainians had attacked the other checkpoint at Shebekino.

It will take a day or two for the goal(s) of Ukraine's attacks in Belgorod to become less unclear, but the two incursion points appear to be on the flanks of the stalled Russian attempt to take Kharkiv. So turning that Russian invasion/bulge into a pocket - or appearing to try to do that - is a possibility. Each incursion, as reported, is about the size of two US-Army-sized companies, once again not consistent with Ukraine-Haters' belief that Ukraine is bled white and barely able to hold back the Russians (of course, the 1-2 brigade-sized invasion of Kursk, currently "controlling" ~1300 square kilometers and marauding fairly freely in even more contradicts what Ukraine-Haters want to believe true).
