House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's (D-CA) husband was violently assaulted early Friday morning at his residency, according to the speaker's office.
A motivation for the attack is still under investigation, but her husband, Paul Pelosi, has been taken to a hospital for medical treatment. Nancy Pelosi was not near the residency at the time of the attack. ...
"Mr. Pelosi was taken to the hospital, where he is receiving excellent medical care and is expected to make a full recovery. The Speaker was not in San Francisco at the time," he added. "The Speaker and her family are grateful to the first responders and medical professionals involved, and request privacy at this time.”

The man accused of attacking Paul Pelosi with a hammer had been living in a school bus weeks before the attack, neighbors said.
Those who know David DePape, 42, told The Post they’ve seen him living in a yellow school bus parked in front of the Berkeley home of his ex, San Francisco pro-nudist activist Gypsy Taub, with whom he shares three children.
“He usually kept to himself,” neighbor Ryan La Coste told The Post. “He would just give us a blank stare when we would walk by. We tried to stay clear of him. … No one knew he was here because he would be on the bus or he just didn’t communicate.”
La Coste said he “wasn’t surprised at all” when he learned his former neighbor was involved in the brazen attack on Pelosi.

“The SFPD also says that there were only TWO people inside the Pelosi home (Paul Pelosi and DePape) when they responded, clarifying statements made at Friday’s press conference which seemed to indicate there was a third person inside the home who opened the door,” wrote NBC investigative correspondent Tom Winter on social media on Sunday afternoon.

Winter reported Sunday morning on Meet the Press that there was a third person inside the home, who opened the door for police.
San Francisco Police Chief Bill Scott indicated there was a third person during a press conference on Friday evening when he recounted details of what occurred when police arrived on the scene.
“When the officers arrived and knocked on the front door of the residence this morning the door was opened by someone inside and the officers observed through the open door, Mr. Pelosi and the suspect Mr. DePape inside the entryway of the home,” Scott said.
He said the police officers on the scene remained outside the home and spotted Pelosi and DePape inside the entryway, each struggling over a hammer.
When officers ordered the pair to drop the hammer, Scott said, DePape allegedly pulled the hammer away from Pelosi and struck him on the head.

addition, law enforcement searched DEPAPE’s backpack at the Pelosi residence, and they found,
among other things, a roll of tape, white rope, one hammer, one pair of rubber and cloth gloves,
and a journal.

an individual in all black, carrying a large black bag on his back, walking near the Pelosi
residence where Witness 1 was parked. Witness 1 was working private security at an address
nearby. Witness 1 then heard what sounded like banging on either a door or car and then heard
the sirens within a minute or two.
DEPAPE wanted to do. DEPAPE stated he wanted to tie Pelosi up so that
DEPAPE could go to sleep as he was tired from having had to carry a backpack to
the Pelosi residence. Around this time, according to DEPAPE, DEPAPE started
taking out twist ties from his pocket so that he could restrain Pelosi. Pelosi
moved towards another part of the house, but DEPAPE stopped him and together
they went back into the bedroom.
c. While talking with each other, Pelosi went into a bathroom, where Pelosi grabbed
a phone to call 9-1-1. DEPAPE stated he felt like Pelosi’s actions compelled him
to respond.
d. DEPAPE remembered thinking that there was no way the police were going to
forget about the phone call. DEPAPE explained that he did not leave after
Pelosi’s call to 9-1-1 because, much like the American founding fathers with the
British, he was fighting against tyranny without the option of surrender. DEPAPE
reiterated this sentiment elsewhere in the interview.

My guess is that he will simply disappear.Very easy, very simple for this guy to disappear. No real friends. No connected family.
I saw the picture of the broken glass, but it looked like glass on both sides of the door.... If hit with a hammer initially it would go inside but if beating out the rest of the glass (to clear it for reaching in) it could fall to both sides... falling glass is not an exact science no matter how many mystery shows we watch with it mentioned.

NBC News walked back a report Sunday that there was a third person in Paul Pelosi’s home during the attack.
“The SFPD also says that there were only TWO people inside the Pelosi home (Paul Pelosi and DePape) when they responded, clarifying statements made at Friday’s press conference which seemed to indicate there was a third person inside the home who opened the door,” wrote NBC investigative correspondent Tom Winter on social media on Sunday afternoon.

Winter reported Sunday morning on Meet the Press that there was a third person inside the home, who opened the door for police.
San Francisco Police Chief Bill Scott indicated there was a third person during a press conference on Friday evening when he recounted details of what occurred when police arrived on the scene.
“When the officers arrived and knocked on the front door of the residence this morning the door was opened by someone inside and the officers observed through the open door, Mr. Pelosi and the suspect Mr. DePape inside the entryway of the home,” Scott said.
He said the police officers on the scene remained outside the home and spotted Pelosi and DePape inside the entryway, each struggling over a hammer.
When officers ordered the pair to drop the hammer, Scott said, DePape allegedly pulled the hammer away from Pelosi and struck him on the head.
He said that Pelosi was “struck at least once” before officers tackled DePape to the ground.

U.S. Capitol Police are fast-tracking an internal review after an attack on Paul Pelosi landed him in the hospital with severe injuries.
Pelosi was violently attacked on Friday after David Depape, 42, allegedly hit him with a hammer while he was waiting for House Speaker Nancy Pelosi to come home so he could break "her kneecaps" if she did not tell him the "truth." Depape has pleaded not guilty.
The department received funding from Congress after Jan. 6, 2021, which led to providing more security on and around Capitol Hill as well as retention and obtaining new officers.
"Now we will fast-track the work we have already been doing to enhance the protection of Members outside of Washington, D.C., while also providing new protective options that will address concerns following Friday’s targeted attack," the press release stated.
Security cameras monitoring the Pelosi residence in San Francisco were not as actively monitored as they are when House Speaker Nancy Pelosi is there, Capitol Police previously stated.
