Splendid idea, maybe not 30, but maybe 11 or 12, so long as the left similarly fragments.  On the right parties standing for strict contructivism, almost anarchist libertarianism, the sort of rose-window conservatism that wants the state to vigorously enforce traditional Christian morality, classical liberalism, on the left a "green" party, a socialist party, a black-separatist party (or would that be a left party, they might support school vouchers, oppose siting abortion clinic in black neighborhoods, at least), a latino separatist party, a party for which sexual politics is the be-all-and-end-all, and heck on the fringes, a communist party reinvigorated by defections from the vanished democrats, and a white nationalist party, and throw in a party of self-identified centrist, and party that fancies technology and everything being run by a technocratic elite can fix everything.

We'd get more-or-less a parliamentary system with the House electing every President.

I didn’t use to agree with this, but now I do.

The so called binary choice has left a lot of us without a party.

And is ruining the country.
Character still matters.  It always matters.

I wear a mask as an exercise in liberty and love for others.  To see it as an infringement of liberty is to entirely miss the point.  Be kind.

Nice mouth.    I'm a "commie" whose vote for the GOP does a lot more to further the conservative cause than you and your foolish admonition to not vote at all, or throw it away in a fit of vanity.

You take the term 'bullshit artist' into an entirely new and different realm of deceit:

So the concept of the United States of America is, in your view, Marxist?

The separate states joined together for their common defense and common prosperity.   200 years before the European union,  tariffs and barriers between the states were broken down to create a contenent-wide free trade zone.

The folks in red states pay for projects that benefit mostly folks in blue states, and vice versa, all the time.   Hell,  the net outflow of federal tax dollars from the northeastern states to states like yours is well documented.  Folks in my state don't get back in federal expenditures what they send Washington in tax dollars.   On that score, folks in many red states make out like bandits.

The project to replace crumbling, century-old tunnels that link the island of Manhattan with the outside world is vital and necessary.   If the federal government is to play any role in helping to finance important infrastructure projects that truly benefit the economy,  the NJ-Manhattan tunnel project qualifies IMO.

Yes, we are one nation.   Yes, the prosperity of one region affects the prosperity of all.  That is not a "Marxist" sentiment,  that is fundamentally American.
What you are describing is not Constitutional.

In no way is any instate project required to be paid for by other states unless there is a clear federal purpose.

Seems you are attempting to justify by blurting out some 'Financial' necessity.  Ridiculous argument.

Those tunnels were originally paid for the states whose province they serve, New York and New Jersey.  They need to do it once again to service their constituents.

You seem a bit touched by fever, INVAR.   Calm down before that vein on your temple bursts.

I pay more in tax dollars to fix up all the dysfunction/mismanagement in your red state than you do for my blue state.   The red states take more than they give;  you could look it up.

But that's okay, because we're the United States of America.  One nation, with each region's prosperity helping to  boost the others.   Yes, I'm as concerned as you are that tax money be spent wisely and not wasted,  but I'm am not going to imbibe of your toxic brew of tribalism and selfishness.
Do you have any idea how foolish you sound?

That is absolutely not the Constitutional basis of this country.  What you are describing is Communism.

The GOP did an effective job of obstruction during the Obama years.   The Dems were able to pass a few things, like ObamaCare,  by force of party discipline.   We passed the tax bill the same way - but we failed at other initiatives such as ObamaCare repeal because of a mere handful of defections.

The Obama years were marked by action by means of executive order, not legislation.  Yes,  their lack of a supermajority hindered the Obama-era Democrat Congress just as surely as our lack of a supermajority hinders us now.  It's the fault of the Senate's rules, which purposely weaponize the minority's ability to obstruct.
Now you are attempting to rewrite history.

Obamacare was passed in the dead of night by defying the Constitutional process to have tax matters originate in the House, and by bribing, yes bribing certain Democrat representatives to vote for the monstrosity.

You are terrible at the rewrite.  We all know what happened

I will be voting to re-elect only one person at the federal level this year.  That person's name is Ted Cruz.  The rest of them can go straight to hell as far as I'm concerned.
sorry, I will vote for my congressman Louie Gohmert as well as Ted.

You will NOT see the word "Republican" in my post. I share your disappointment, but multiple general election candidates is not the answer.

I do not believe there is one conservative representative or Senator, that is not also a Republican.

And I do NOT believe there is one single democrat that is a conservative.
I agree.  The last conservative Democrat just passed away, Zell Miller.

The last liberal Democrat I could stomach was Joe Lieberman, as I believe he was a true patriot who loved his country.

Putting the matter devoid of sentiment, it is entirely rational to act to maintain the prosperity of an entire nation, rather than adhering strictly to selfish factionalism.   The economic engine that is Manhattan and the NYC area is part of the greatest and oldest free trade zone in human history.  We all benefit from the liberty secured by this historic voluntary confederation.   We are all in this together, as Americans.

Why is it, in your words 'selfish' to act in the best interests of the sovereign state of which you are a citizen?

The Republic keeps itself solvent, as framed by the original Founders' intent, by that sovereignty of those individual states, binded together by the federal government for specific and limited purposes.

If I am a citizen of Colorado and choose to live in another state because Colorado's taxes or laws appear onerous, I am free to move to New Hampshire if I choose.

Anybody has that freedom to decide what is best.

Once we become a single entity of taxes, laws, policing, judicial, etc, we have lost the Republic and our freedoms.

That is absolutely not the Constitutional basis of this country.  What you are describing is Communism.

The voluntary confederation of the several States,  including the delegation of authority to a federal government to regulate interstate commerce and to provide for taxation to promote the common welfare, is not Communism.   That you suggest it is shows ignorance rather than mere foolishness.

That's right.  Every deliberate failure by a conservative to vote,  or to vote for a vanity candidate,  empowers the vote of a liberal.

I know what happened.  On a couple of major initiatives, like ObamaCare,  the Dems achieved the solidarity needed to pass legislation with absolutely no support from the other side.   We did the same thing with the new Tax Bill,  and used many of the same tactics.

But by and large,  determined GOP opposition forced Obama to mainly rule by executive order.   We were very effective in shutting down Democratic legislative initiatives.   Not that many folks here will give credit where it is due.

Why vote GOP? There is really only one reason given the sorry state of the GOP today,
Federal Judges.

How ever in 2018 you have another reason to vote R if you want to see the House and Senate
continue their investigation of corruption at DOJ/FBI/CIA/IRS/State and other feds agencies.

His own words that he vomits forth illustrate him to be nothing but a Commie-Lib-Leftist if anyone is willing to be honest about what he posts on this board.  I find it amusing that as soon as someone known for arguing the Commie-Lib-Leftist viewpoint supports Trump and argues in favor, he is immediately accepted into the brotherhood of the Trump Faithful as a pillar of virtue and reason.

It's exactly what Cults of personality engender, despite the fact that the Commie-Lib-Leftists are only supporting Trump because he is handing the Commie-Lib-Leftists exactly what they want.

No matter how bad the Republican candidate may be, the democrat-communist candidate is going to be worse.

I'd reckon this is true 95-97% of the time, at the very least.
Probably 100% of the time (as far as I'm concerned, personally).

So on election day, I grit my teeth and do what I have to do.

Pretty simple, actually...   (like the simpleton that I am!)

And one day soon, the result of that thinking (which is shared by a majority I will concede) will earn you a choice between a future Hitler, a future Mussolini or a future Stalin.

The end result is the same; the nation goes full-bore into Collectivists' ism of one kind or the other.  Republic officially over.

And that thinking is exactly why the Republicans can run whomever they choose, no matter how corrupt and liberal, because they know you will vote for them. You're stuck on their plantation afraid to walk away. Only when enough people walk away will they be forced to earn your vote.

Exactly right... If I would even come back then. It will be very hard to convince me with 40 years of broken promises.
