Well I don't know how to update the thread then. I try to post articles from reliable sources. I disregard so many as unreliable now..
Sorry. It isn't the posts of articles per se--we can expect that from most of the media and an avalanche of the usual negative posters on X, etc. I get those, and we do need to know what they are saying, even if it is the usual over-the-top TDS fest.
My issue isn't with you posting those.
What got to me was the number of posters here who seem to be ready and willing to echo the "Trump Lost the war" theme, and it has only been a few months.
I think of what they would have said after Pearl Harbor or Dunkirk and just shake my head.
Only that was in an age when we believed that Americans can get the job done, even with a Democrat at the helm.
Iran isn't over, by a long shot.
The original reasons we got into this round still exist.
They are still going to pursue nuclear weapons if we don't stop them.
They are still run by terrorists with a hankering to meet the 12th Imam and an apocalyptic mindset to go with their death wish. (Not all Iranians, but the ones running the show over there).
They have demonstrated more resilience than we had hoped, and aspects of this whole operation have been timed just far enough off to lose some advantages we might have had on the ground there (thousands of protesters gone before the actual military engagement, who would have been downright handy to still have around).
But the original reasons are still there, and will need to be addressed, hopefully before they get and deploy a nuke. I have to recall we can use the time 'negotiating' to improve our military stance in the region as well, not just the Iranians.
@mystery-ak It isn't your updates that got to me, it is the responses of doom and gloom and "Trump Lost" that did. My estimate is that this would be like the end of the first quarter.
I would have replied earlier, but was reminded that internet, TV, landline (VOIP, actually), can all go down over a bad battery back up unit, and that just got replaced a couple hours ago, so I'm back online.
Keep doing what you do, my issue was not with you, but those who seem so ready to agree with the purveyors of doom.
