Who Will Attend Trump-Putin Summit From Russia?

Alongside Putin will be Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, Defence Minister Andrey Belousov, presidential aide Yuri Ushakov, Finance Minister Anton Siluanov, and Special Envoy Kirill Dmitriev, who heads Russia's sovereign wealth fund.


What Is the Schedule for Trump-Putin in Alaska?

The summit, to be held at the Elmendorf-Richardson military base in Anchorage and centred on agreeing a settlement on Ukraine, will begin at 11:30 a.m. local time, the Kremlin said, according to state-run news agency RIA.

It will begin with a head-to-head meeting between Trump and Putin, the Kremlin said, leading into negotiations between the two delegations and a working breakfast.

Trump and Putin will then hold a press conference after the talks.

Ushakov said the meeting will also cover broader peace and security, including the "most pressing international and regional issues," the Russian state news outlet TASS reported.

"An exchange of views is expected on the further development of bilateral cooperation, including in the trade and economic sphere. I note that this cooperation has huge—and unfortunately still untapped—potential," Ushakov said, originally in Russian.

President Donald Trump revealed how he plans to approach his meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin on Friday.

Trump appeared for a radio interview on the "Brian Kilmeade Show" on Thursday, telling host Brian Kilmeade that his negotiations with Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy are "like chess."

Trump estimated that his meeting in Alaska with Putin has a "25% chance of failing outright, but he said the hope is to push for a second meeting between Putin and Zelenskyy.

"This meeting sets up the second meeting," Trump told Kilmeade.

He argued the second meeting would be "extremely important," and hinted that there would likely be negotiations over land swaps, a notion Zelenskyy has opposed.

Trump added that he believes he will know very quickly on Friday whether Putin intends to cooperate.

"I believe now he's convinced that he's going to make a deal. He's going to make a deal. I think he's going to. And we're going to find out – I'm going to know very quickly," Trump said.

I have no doubt Ukraine is going to have to give up territory that it's already lost, because it will never be won back. Trump needs to demand the rest be allowed into NATO.

The stick is Trump needs to let Putin know that he will give as many drones to Ukraine as they need to completely destroy their oil distribution infrastructure, and I'd even threaten to give Ukraine back their nukes.

There are no perfect answers here, just real politick, regardless of what some of the child like minds here think.

Which is exactly what Putin wants ... more delay

Harsh secondary sanctions on Russia's helpers were supposed to start last Friday ... but Putin insisted on them being delayed, as a pre-condition of a meeting with Pres. Trump ... Trump complied

So, Putin can see that by promising more meetings - maybe even dangling the carrot of "a deal on nuclear weapons" * - he can continuously delay those secondary sanctions from ever taking effect.

And Trump is so desperate to be seen as "a great negotiator" that he allows himself to keep being played by Putin

If Trump approaches this as a real estate transaction, he won't give away any Ukraine territory without getting something as valuable, or more valuable, in return ... like a Trump Golf Resort and Casino in Crimea.

When Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump meet in Alaska, the Russian president will set out to woo his US counterpart and dangle financial incentives for siding with Moscow over Ukraine.

The hastily arranged summit, organised at Putin’s request, will be his first invitation to meet a US president on American soil since he visited George W Bush in 2007.

The surprise announcement caught Kyiv and its European allies off guard but for Putin it signals a preliminary diplomatic victory: a face to face with Trump requiring no concessions, and a step towards his goal of deciding Ukraine’s future at the table with Washington.

Key to Putin’s message on Friday will be an appeal to Trump’s business instincts. On Thursday, the Russian president’s adviser Yuri Ushakov said the leaders would discuss the “huge untapped potential” in Russia–US economic relations.

“An exchange of views is expected on further developing bilateral cooperation, including in the trade and economic sphere,” Ushakov said. “This cooperation has huge and, unfortunately so far, untapped potential.”

Notably, alongside a cadre of veteran diplomats, Putin is bringing two prominent economic advisers. The inclusion of the finance minister, Anton Siluanov, is particularly notable: he has led Russia’s response to western sanctions, the removal of which the Kremlin has consistently set as a key condition for any peace deal.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov arrived in Alaska wearing a USSR (‘CCCP’) sweatshirt, a blatant reference to the Cold War, as an advance party of the Russian delegation ahead of Russian Federation President Vladimir Putin landed for Friday’s talks. The meeting is due to take place at Joint Base Elmendorf–Richardson near Anchorage, Alaska.

Per Russian state media, the Russian delegation beyond President Putin himself are Foreign Minister Lavrov, ambassador to Washington Alexander Darchiyev, aide to President Putin Yuri Ushakov, Defense Minister Andrey Belousov, Finance Minister Anton Siluanov, and Kirill Dmitriev, the U.S.-educated state investment fund boss who has been something of an emissary to America of late.

President Trump on Friday said he wouldn’t be negotiating for Ukraine at his summit in Alaska with with Russian President Vladimir Putin, while claiming the Russian would have taken all of Ukraine if he wasn’t in the Oval Office.

“Vladimir Putin wanted to take all of Ukraine. If I wasn’t president, he would right now be taking all of Ukraine,” Trump told reporters, speaking from Air Force One en route to Alaska.

“But he’s not going to do it.”

Asked if territory swaps were on the table, Trump said that would be up to Kyiv.

“They’ll be discussed, but I’ve got to let Ukraine make that decision. And I think they’ll make a proper decision. But I’m not here to negotiate for Ukraine. I’m here to get them at a table,” Trump said.

The president also fielded a question about Ukraine’s reports of continued Russian strikes in the hours ahead of the meeting.

“I think they’re trying to negotiate. He’s trying to set a stage. I mean, in his mind, that helps him make a better deal. It actually hurts him. But in his mind, that helps him make a better deal,” Trump said. “I’ll be talking to him about it.”

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky will notably be left out of the upcoming US-Russia meeting, but Trump has floated a follow-up with all three leaders.

Trump has forecast that there’s a “25 percent chance” his talks with Putin aren’t successful, and described his goal for the Friday meeting as being to “set the table for the next meeting.”

“We don’t want, we don’t need any Russian investment, we don’t support that. I don’t think that is a serious proposal right now,” Sen. Sullivan said.

The senator’s response came after British newspaper The Telegraph’s report U.S. President Donald Trump may consider bargaining with to get Russian President Vladimir Putin to end the war in Ukraine during Friday’s Summit in Alaska.

U.S. Senator Dan Sullivan, R-Alaska, said he would not support using Alaska’s rare earth mineral resources as a bargaining chip in the peace agreement.
The report does not list who revealed these plans, nor if they came out of the White House or U.S. government at large.

Asked during a Thursday oval office press conference, Trump did not directly answer whether a rare earth mineral deal would be part of Friday’s negotiations.

“As far as rare earth (minerals), that’s very unimportant relative to - I’m trying to save lives,” he said Thursday.

The White House revealed on Friday the team that will accompany US President Donald Trump to the Alaska summit on Friday.

Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick, Special Envoy Steve Witkoff and Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) Director John Ratcliffe are among the top US officials who will join Trump for his highly anticipated meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin and his delegation.

Additionally, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt, Chief of Staff Susie Wiles and Deputy White House Chief of Staff Dan Scavino, among others, are expected to travel with the US president to Alaska for the encounter scheduled to begin at 3 pm ET.

Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin shook hands for the first time in six years as they began a historic summit in Alaska to end the war in Ukraine.

The Russian leader approached and smiled at his American counterpart on the red carpet on the tarmac at Elmendorf Air Force Base in Anchorage, surrounded by fighter jets.

The stakes couldn't be higher for Putin in his first trip to U.S. soil in 10 years after Trump said he would only be happy if they walked away with a ceasefire deal.

Speaking aboard Air Force One as it flew toward Anchorage, the president declared his mission was nothing less than to 'stop the killing' and demanded that a truce between Russia and Ukraine be reached 'rapidly.'

'I don't know if it's going to be today,' Trump admitted, 'but I'm not going to be happy if it's not today. Everyone said it can't be today — but I want the killing to stop.'

The blunt ultimatum came hours before the two leaders were set to meet at Elmendorf Air Force Base for a high-stakes 'working breakfast' — their first face-to-face talks on U.S. soil since Russia launched its full-scale invasion three years ago.

Moments before Trump's plane touched down, the White House announced the one-on-one meeting between the world leaders was off the table.

Putin and Trump will instead hold talks with two of their top aides.

In an interview with Fox News host Bret Baier, Trump went further, threatening to 'head back home real fast' if Putin stonewalled. 'If he doesn't want to cooperate, then I'm gone,' he said flatly.
