I wrote a note to a judge once while serving on a jury.  I asked a question about a photo.  The judge provided no help since it is something the prosecution should have brought up during the trial.

One juror who sat for six weeks listening to the evidence presented in a Manhattan courtroom against former President Donald Trump reportedly appears sympathetic towards him.

Thus, the need for the six alternates.

He wants (1) his name in the history books as judge in first criminal conviction of a former president and (2) help his daughter drum up more lucrative business deals with Democrats.

Perhaps like @Hoodat   suggested -- they want another steak and lobster dinner tonight, breakfast tomorrow, lunch and then they'll present the verdict - they could also stretch it out until Friday.  It all depends on how quickly they all want to leave this sham of a trial.

The odds are so stacked against former President Donald J. Trump in the Stormy Daniels sham trial that the Secret Service is already making arrangements for his imprisonment.

Legal Experts: The Trump Trial Jury Instructions Are Not Normal

Closing arguments in the trial of former President Donald Trump in New York City, where he is charged with 34 felony counts of falsifying business records, have concluded and Judge Juan Merchan has given the jury their instructions. The instructions were given verbally and jurors won't receive printed copies, although they can ask questions.

According to legal experts, Merchan's standards for a conviction are abnormal and do not require jurors to reach a unanimous decision on the charges. Further, jurors don't have to determine what crime was committed.

"Judge Merchan has ruled that the jury does not have to agree on what that crime is. The jury could split into three groups of four on which of the three crimes were being concealed and Merchan will still treat it as a unanimous verdict," George Washington University Law Professor Jonathan Turley, who has been inside the courtroom, writes. "The jury has been given little substantive information on these crimes, and Merchan has denied a legal expert who could have shown that there was no federal election violation. This case should have been dismissed for lack of evidence or a cognizable crime."  .  .

...The new note at 3:51 is asking to reread the judge's instructions. They may reflect disagreements in the jury on the standards etc.

Looks like Merchan is going to excuse them for the day and address this in the morning. That makes sense if he wants to stick to the 4:30 timeline. It is better for them to hear the instructions and the transcripts before they restart their deliberations.
