To quote Mark Twain,
"History doesn't always repeat itself but sometimes it rhymes!" Looks to be the Second Battle of Kursk is brewing.
Ukrainian forces are rapidly advancing on the Russian city of Kursk and even if they occupy it only for a short time it will be a devastating embarrassment for the Putin regime.
The usual pro-Ruzzian azzclowns are saying how Ruzzia will easily defeat these Ukrainian forces but for now the facts on the ground show the Ukrainians advancing with scant opposition.
Ruzzian authorities are ordering civilians to evacuate the city and the Oblast governor has declared a state of emergency.
Unlike World War Two the Ruzzians have very little in the area to bring to the battle. The Ukrainians have forced Ruzzian forces to virtually abandon their bases in the region and the Putin regime further stripped the region of defenses in order to prop up their faltering and starving forces in Crimea and Donbas.
Some pundits are saying this is just a diversionary feint but I don't think so. Up until now the ongoing narrative was that regular Ukrainian forces would never invade Ruzzia itself and the Ruzzians would seem to have believed that lie. They created their own weak point and the Ukrainians are right now exploiting it.
Even better is the Ukrainian forces are advancing with AA protection and F-16 fighters for air cover.
Speculation on my part here:
The Ruzzians once had an aircraft carrier that was short on aircraft. So to fool foreign observers they'd operate the few aircraft they had and they'd repaint them between sorties to make them look more plentiful than they actually were.
So right now with the Ukrainians having F-16 aircraft it is plausible that NATO operated F-16 fighters could pretend to be Ukrainian while carrying out missions against Ruzzian targets.
That'll be bad news for Ivan!
