A young (still alive) Russian woman in a video above is in tears because her house was destroyed.  The dead Ukrainian civilians buried under the rubble of the buildings below didn't get that opportunity to exercise their own righteous indignation.  Russians need to know.  Every Russian citizen needs to know what they started and what they have done, just like the citizens of Dachau.

Four days into Ukraine’s surprise invasion of Russia’s Kursk Oblast, just across Ukraine’s northern border with Russia, the number of confirmed Ukrainian brigades in and around the invasion zone has grown to at least five: four army mechanized brigades and one brigade from the independent air assault force.

Altogether, these units could oversee as many as 10,000 troops and 600 armored vehicles. Additional artillery, air-defense, drone and reconnaissance units are playing critical supporting roles.

To put into perspective the scale of the Ukrainian force in and around Kursk, recall that Kyiv formed a corps with a dozen new brigades to lead its southern counteroffensive in the summer of 2023.

So far, the Kursk corps is less than half the size of the counteroffensive corps. But it appears to be growing as analysts scour social media, scrutinize official media releases and verify the presence of additional brigades.

In four days, the five brigades have partially or fully occupied around 400 square miles of Kursk Oblast and captured scores of Russian troops. While it’s still possible the brigades don’t intend to stay in Russia, there are currently no signs of them slowing their attacks.

Just to let you know, there is a rumor going around that Shoigu is planning a coup against Putin. But if it is true, this Coup might be legit. I mean they are showing ballet on Russian TV, this coup is for real..

I dunno...Shoigu would be a strange choice to lead a coup since he is nothing but a Kremlin hack and owes his position and statue solely to Putin.  One would suppose that if Putin goes down, then Shoigu would go down with him.

I don't believe this rumor at all.  If there is going to be a coup, it's going be from a general and more competent coup than the last one.

Just to mention this, the stream of refugees will make a hash of force movements if the Russians don't keep it under control, and even controlling that will require people who would have gone to the war effort.
I just hope the Ukrainians treat the Russian civilian population more humanely than the Ukrainian civilian population has been treated by the Russians.

Soldiers executing civilians in the streets and gang-raping women isn't the Ukrainian style.  Let's not forget this invasion started with Putin declaring Ukrainians "drug addicts" and "criminals", and then sending troops to the north suburbs of Kyiv to commit untold atrocities against the Ukrainian people.  It would be a self-fulfilling prophecy if Ukraine did likewise to them, similar to what Russians did to the Germans.

It was the battle (the largest tank battle of WWII) that ended German ambitions during what the USSR called "The Great Patriotic War". After that battle, the Germans were on defense and the Russians (Soviets) pushed through to Berlin (Not that we could not have done so, but: politics).

To seize that region from Russia has implications that go beyond mere territory.

My guess is it is a bargaining chip. They'll return Russian territory if Russia returns Ukrainian territory.

That could be. If others impose a "peace talk" at least now they have something to bargain with and trade to get their country back. Unfortunately, peace talks with communists are only, historically, an opportunity for the Communists to reposition troops and move up supplies. Both Korea and Vietnam are shining examples.
