We have received signals from the Taliban movement multiple times indicating their readiness to collaborate with us on the anti-terrorism front,” said Putin.

Despite Putin’s statement, the Taliban movement is classified as a terrorist organization in Russia itself and was recognized as one in 2003 — after it was included in the corresponding list by the UN Security Council. It is similarly recognized as such by the authorities of Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkey, and Canada. Criminal cases are still being initiated in Russia for “justifying the activities of the Taliban movement.”

Vladimir Putin’s foreign policy strategy actively aligns with dictatorial governments and groups, such as Syria’s Bashar al-Assad regime and North Korea’s Kim Jong-un leadership. Additionally, Moscow has been coordinating with the Houthis  .  .  .

First post on Ukraine I have seen in awhile.

Sadly, the Russian people are totally clueless on what is happening in Ukraine.  But with nearly 500,000 Russian soldiers dead, I suspect parents, spouses, and siblings are awakening slowly to the truth.

I suspect we may well have another six years or so of this, or until such time Putin checks out.  I cannot see any sane leader continuing this nonsense beyond Putin.  He is the key.  He dies, this war comes to an end.

Almost 300K US service personnel died in WW2. By 1944, enough families had Gold Stars on their homes that the war had "come home" to the average citizen on the streets, with yet another year or year-and-a-half in prospect. With 330K-500K dead (estimates vary) and more maimed or wounded, ordinary Russian people know what Putin's war is costing.

Other than trying it briefly in 1998, 1999, or 2000, I've not been on FR. It sounds like it's devolved over a couple of decades into the conservative analog of Democratic Underground.

That's a good point. I did notice that several of them didn't post anything on June 12th. Which was "Russia Day", one of Russia's biggest national holidays.

Seems even the troll farms in St. Petersburg closed for the holiday!
