You can drive completely across New Jersey in less time than ... well, I don't have my calculator but it's only 70 miles across.

I think it takes longer to get across Oahu.  I know it takes long enough to get a heck of a sunburn in a convertible.

Ha!  You did the convertible thing.

Well, I was talking to a support guy who was, of course, far, far away.  He was in Cape Town, South Africa.  We were on the phone an hour.  He told me a lot about Cape Town, a place he adored and he asked me, "How long would it take to walk across Maui?"  I explained the difficulty of that to him and also the difficulty of driving across Maui.  It cannot be done but you can drive all around ... well, mostly all around.

Yeah, Haleakala does pose a bit of an obstacle.  And of course I did the convertible thing!  I was a tourist!  Now my brother...he lives in Oahu so hard tops for him.  LOL.

You totally did the right thing.  I just did Haleakala a week ago with my niece who was over from Dallas.  Funny how we only do things when relatives come.
