   He does have a History of destroying Chiefs of Staff (Ronna should be destroyed ~ not endorsed).  He went through more CoS's than anybody except Eisenhower, who had one die on him, in 8 years.

Reagan was involved in politics for quite some time before he ran for president.  He also thoughtfully developed his political views, instead of just making them up off the seat of his pants.

It contradicts your earlier statement.  You stated that Reagan had not made a career in politics.  Yet Reagan first became active in politics in the late 1940s.  He actively supported the Presidential campaigns of Harry Truman, Dwight Eisenhower, Richard Nixon, and Barry Goldwater.  He served two terms as Governor of California, and ran for President three times.

Ironically, the person who engineered Reagan's defeat in 1976 is the same guy that Donald Trump hired to be his campaign manager in 2016.
