Aspirin is not without side affects, especially internal bleeding.  I read an article that stated that aspirin would never be approved by today's current FDA standards.  Go figure.

Years ago, I knew an elderly woman who took aspirin for arthritis - the aspirin ate a hole through her stomach, she was bleeding out and had emergency surgery to save her life.

Most here know I am 84.  I am lucky I don't have to take pills for arthritis.  My hands function well and are not deformed by arthritis as so many people have at this age.  If my hands were deformed and I couldn't type, I would find someone with good hands and cut them off and attach them to me.    That is how important my hands are.

Truly @libertybele all I was doing was pointing out that the article claims Sessions was telling chronic pain sufferers to take an aspirin.  He wasn't.  He was cautioning those with transient pain (from a sprain, a minor surgery) to try a pain reliever other than addictive opioids.

I really don't know how to advise chronic pain sufferers ... by God's grace I am not among this group (yet).  I suppose the only advice I can give is to have a candid discussion with the doctor about how all of this will affect you.  If it's a matter of it now being too much trouble to prescribe an opioid, would a review board be an appropriate next step?

True.  I was just pointing out that if someone doesn't like the generally accepted definition of a term, they often ask for a hard and fast definition, so that they can adjust their argument to fit those terms. 

Also, I accept that there are some here who fall way out of the normally accepted definition of "conservative" but still claim to be conservative.

Respect for individual liberty and self-determination - yes.  Respect for the Constitution - yes.  Advocacy of limited government and fiscal restraint - yes.

Fair enough regarding Sessions though I find a lot of fault with the doctors for over prescribing meds.  As for chronic, irretractable pain having a 'discussion' with a doctor is a joke ... many chronic pain sufferers have spoken to numerous doctors, have had numerous tests, procedures, etc. over a course of several years and wind up in some sort of pain clinic; all the while they are suffering with the pain.  The pain doc may or may not prescribe opioids, injections and even experimental treatments that may do more harm then good and offer very little relief.

I know I'm not perfect so I don't claim to be the perfect conservative.  And, there are some areas where I disagree with social conservatives, so I'm not one of those either.  I do try to be consistent and argue within the bounds of the Constitution by which this nation is formed and united, and within the bounds of my relationship with God.

You are no more of an authority on God and Christ than I am.  I have no objection whatsoever to your refraining from homosexual acts.  I've managed to do so myself for sixty years without any Bible instructing me to do so.    It is your insistence on using the Bible to justify the persecution of others that I label as a perversion of the His word.   What I insist on is civil rights for homosexuals and the equal protection of the law.   That means they have the right to marry under the civil law.   If you want to bar them from your church, then have at it.   But the civil law and the Constitution don't give a rat's ass about your church.
