Iran halts military operations against Israel but threatens a restart

Iran's Khatam al-Anbiya military headquarters announced the end of hostilities against Israel on Monday just minutes after President Donald Trump demanded a ceasefire.

Iran's military says the ceasefire is conditional on Israel also halting its attacks, however, vowing to renew "severe and crushing" operations if attacks continue.

"Following the aggressions and evils of the brutal Zionist regime in South Lebanon and the Dahiya region, which took place with the support of the criminal America, the powerful armed forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran gave a painful response to this regime in order to support the oppressed people of Lebanon," the military wrote in a statement.

"On this basis, the cessation of armed forces operations is announced; But it is emphasized that if the aggressions and evils continue, including in the south of Lebanon, much more severe and crushing measures will be on the way," it continued.

The really disturbing thing here is that Trump is now letting the Iranians link Lebanon and Hezbollah to any ceasefire or deal that he's trying to make with them, something he said he would NOT do last week.  No wonder the Israelis are so confused...Trump changes his mind and moves the goal posts every day!

There have to be things going on behind the curtain that we are unaware of.  If Trump was truly this chaotic you'd think there would be massive leaks from his administration and you really aren't hearing that.  Even the Israeli's would be screaming bloody murder.

With its north battered relentlessly by Hezbollah in recent weeks, Israel resorted to a largely symbolic strike on the terror group’s Dahiyeh stronghold in Beirut, reportedly without telling the disapproving Trump administration ahead of time that it was doing so.

And, as it had warned it would, Iran responded by firing about 10 missiles at northern Israel — again sending that sector of the country rushing to bomb shelters, though causing no injuries or damage.

But as Israel prepared to “respond forcefully” against Iran, in the words of an unnamed senior Israeli official, US President Donald Trump ordered it to think again.

It was never a "partnership".

When someone approaches you to form a "partnership", run.  The person approaching you has champagne tastes on a beer budget.  They need you more than you need them.  They want to use your resources to achieve their objectives while you take on their costs and their risks.  They benefit, you incur a greater share of the costs.

To get rid of the Iran nuclear program, you need to get rid of the current regime and the IRGC.  The US and Israel don't have to go this alone.  Iran has no friends in the Persian Gulf.  There's more than one way to get rid of a regime.  This is when you need to guys in the basement of the CIA, Mossad, and regional intelligence agencies to do the voo doo they do, oh, so well.

Dropping bombs is not enough.  America does not have stomach for troops on the ground in, yet, another forever war and nation building campaign in the Near East.  Time to let the espionage spooks to use their dirty tricks to bring down the regime and IRGC from within.
