Israel: Sirens in northern Israel due to Hezbollah rockets fired at IDF troops

Sirens sounded in northern Israel on Thursday after Hezbollah launched several rockets toward IDF soldiers operating in southern Lebanon, the Israeli military said, according to a Reuters alert.

The IDF did not immediately say whether the rockets were intercepted, caused damage or resulted in casualties.

The alert came after sirens earlier sounded in the northern Israeli area of Hanita over a suspected hostile aircraft infiltration. The IDF did not immediately provide further details on whether an aircraft or drone had entered Israeli airspace.

The latest launches come as Hezbollah rejected a U.S.-mediated ceasefire plan agreed to by the Lebanese and Israeli governments. The plan would require the Iran-backed group to stop firing and evacuate fighters from areas of southern Lebanon near the border.

Hezbollah leader Naim Qassem dismissed the agreement as “a roadmap for the annihilation of a section of the Lebanese people and the enslavement of the rest,” adding: “As long as the occupation exists, the resistance will continue.”

Trump says he could meet Iran’s supreme leader ‘if it was to make a deal’

President Donald Trump on Thursday said he would be “honored” to meet Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei.

The U.S. president said he would meet the Iranian leader if a deal is reached to end the U.S.-Iran war, which has dragged on into its fourth month. Trump was taking questions from reporters in the Oval Office after making an announcement about coal.

“If we make a deal, it’s possible that I would meet,” he said. “I’d be okay with that.”

Khamenei was named the supreme leader in Iran after his father, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, was killed on the first day of fighting.

Trump said that despite U.S.-Israeli strikes killing his father and other members of his family, he expects that Khamenei would be a “professional.”

“In some circles, he has a very good reputation, actually,” Trump said.

If there were multiple credible news agencies reporting similar data accusing Bibi of lying to Trump, it may be considered reliable information.  Funny how Trump's current advisors norTrump himself have accused Bibi of lying.

Trump is CIC and made the decision to bomb Iran.  He also made the decision to suddenly halt the attacks.

Trump halted the attacks at the exact wrong time and against the advice of ALL the military advisors I saw speaking about it.
Essentially, Trump saved the Iranian regime in the nick of time and he betrayed Israel the Iranian people protesting.

Trump has since spoken of meeting with, and making a deal with the Ayatollah, and has condemned his only wartime ally, Israel.
Once Trump saw the U.S. was on the cusp of victory, he stopped everything immediately and then did a complete reversal of his stances on Iran and Israel.

I am MAGA. I have always supported Trump. But it could not be more obvious that the TACO people were right. When things got serious and Iran was about to be overthrown, Trump chickened out in the eleventh hour. That is the very definition of TACO.

Iranian lawmakers ask Mojtaba Khamenei to greenlight missiles that could reach US: report

Iranian lawmakers have asked Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei to agree to the development of intercontinental ballistic missiles, or ICBMs, according to reports.

Citing Iran’s Asriran newspaper, The Jerusalem Post reported Thursday that a letter to Khamenei was signed by 85 officials who expressed skepticism about Washington’s role in ceasefire negotiations.

Analysts at the Institute for the Study of War also interpreted the letter as a call for missiles capable of reaching the United States.

Former Israeli national security adviser Yaakov Amidror told the outlet that any favorable economic terms in talks with Washington could provide Tehran with the resources needed to pursue such a capability.

The letter was also signed by several Iranian hard-liners, including former Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki, who has opposed negotiations with the United States, the outlet said.

President Donald Trump said Thursday that he would be willing to meet with Iran's Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei if ongoing negotiations between Washington and Tehran produce a deal, saying he would approach any meeting with respect despite any differences.

Trump’s remarks came amid ongoing negotiations with Tehran, where Khamenei appears to have become more involved.

Asked by Fox News' senior White House Correspondent Peter Doocy about meeting the Iranian leader in the United States, Trump said, "I'd be honored to meet him."

“I'd like to see if we make a deal. But if we make a deal, it's possible that I would meet him. I'd be okay with that,” he added before stating that if they did meet, he would be:

“Respectful.”

“Well, I would say I'm not his favorite person,” Trump added.

“But with that being said, he's probably a professional in some circles,” Trump said.

Everything that you say is true.  I have always supported Trump as well, but something is amiss.  IMHO it is not truly in his character to stop when he could have won very easily. He likes winning and always has. It is not in his character to disregard Israel as our ally. He and Bibi have for the most part have always gotten along and had each other's back.

I don't know what happened, but he did an abrupt about face for a reason.  I don't think the abrupt halt was planned nor foreseen by him ...as I said something is amiss and to me things just don't add up.

IMO, here's the rub @libertybele   It turns out the victory would likely not have been easy .... even though the  Iranian regime was presented as weakened and near collapse, it is not.  It's quite possible the reality is further US military action would need significant boots on the ground and a steeper, longer commitment of time, money and nation rebuilding.   I give Trump credit for taking the political hits as he stands for and protects American interests first. 

Still, I can't help but wish Trump had all the information from the US fact checking of Netanyahu's and Mossad's claims made in their presentation ---- before round two started.
