NEW: Israel's Channel 14 reports Israeli aircraft are currently targeting Iranian naval sites in the Caspian Sea.
Interesting. I'm not aware of a waterway connection from the Caspian Sea to the Persian Gulf. There are road connections, but those would be exposed to air attack. What does flow out of Iran's Caspian sea ports that might be sort of relevant would be drones and military stuff going to Russia. More could be said about that but I'll avoid the urination match that would ensue.

How Much Does a Shahed Drone Cost?https://www.thepricer.org/how-much-does-a-shahed-drone-cost/Shahed-series drones, most famously the Shahed 136 and smaller Shahed 131, pair plywood fins with commercial electronics to deliver military punch at scooter-level price. That affordability helps Iran, Russia, and non-state operators flood skies where cruise missiles once flew singly.
Headlines quote wildly different figures—$20,000 production whispers, $193,000 Russian invoice leaks, and post-upgrade numbers landing near $80 000. This article sorts the chatter into clear cost lanes.
Factory build runs $ 20,000 – $ 50,000 ...
...
Base parts: airframe $ 6,000, engine $ 4,500, guidance $ 3,800.
...
The Star Navi blog confirms initial estimates of $20,000–$50,000 per unit, but notes that upgrades for Russian-produced Shahed drones increased the cost to approximately $80,000 per unit as of April 2024.
The CSIS analysis estimates the cost of each Shahed drone at about $35,000 per unit.
Just the basics, airframe, engine & prop, battery pack, GPS, and guidance cost $6,000 + $4,500 + $1,400 + $1,600 + $3,800. The cost of a Shahed that can fly
somewhere without overhead costs, ground equipment, and protective shipping materials is $17300. Damaging the target costs more, bumping the cost of a Shahed that can
do something north of $20,000, and if electricity bills and workers are paid, into the $25,000 range.
Why I didn't look into the real cost and where the $2,500 claimed cost came from, I don't know. The bottom-line reality is that the US is paying the same or slightly higher for a more or much more capable LUCAS drone.
