Well that's a nice sentiment and all, but the petroleum market doesn't work that way. Gas prices here in Pennsylvania are back over $4 a gallon, as of last night. That's unsustainable politically for Trump, so he'd better get this over with soon if he expects to keep the House in the mid-terms, or else he'll get impeached for something every week once the Rats take it back and Jeffries becomes Speaker.
A possible scenario:
He may not have much choice, since he's seeking a Supplemental of 100 [ million?billion? ] to keep the ball rolling which is not likely to pass the Senate, nor is the 200 billion Hegseth wants to restock munitions used.
So because oil prices are going up, voters are going to punish the GOP by electing Dems who, among other things, will cut all funding to DHS and to the Iranian war. They will then do everything to help the Mullahs maintain power. Sort of like Nam, only coming down on Ho Chi Min's side.
Voters will love this Dem policy, since they believe that gas prices will be lower, even at the expense of American troop lives, and allowing the Mullahs to continue their work toward nuclear weapons as a bonus.
Iran, of course, keeps attacking the Gulf States oil refineries and keeps the Strait closed and the price of oil high. Voters will then demand the Dems to "do something" like drain the last remaining barrels of oil from the Strategic Reserve - weakening it to collapse in the process. But, hey, there is relief at the pumps and voters are smiling over the ashes of American because they have less expensing gas.
Until one or more random container ships off a coast launches a huge drone swarm - one of which is a larger drone containing the fruits of the Mullahs nuclear ambitions ...
Voters will then have bigger worries than the price of gas. They got what they wanted and the consequences as well.
