Petition to ban hunting in Oregon gains traction for November ballot

A petition to ban hunting in Oregon is picking up steam.

Animal rights advocates are fighting to change the law in Oregon, including banning most hunting, fishing and animal research. ...

Supporters call the proposal the PEACE Act, short for People for the Elimination of Animal Cruelty Exemptions.  ...

The chief petitioner says they have more than 100,000 signatures so far. By law, they need 117,173 verified signatures by July 2 to qualify for the ballot in November.
These people are certifiably nuts.

Not merely hunting and fishing, but "animal husbandry" as well.
This is the 3rd? (maybe 4th) time they tried to pass this insanity. The 2A quash (BM114) passed on its 6th(?) appearance.
This is why Oregonians *hate* Portland ~ kids with no idea where their chicky-nuggies or MickieDs come from.

Hopefully, this gets smashed at the ballot box, but the bicoastal flood of insanity seems to be just deepening.

Of course it's being smokescreened as preventing cruelty to animals, but the real reason is to clamp down on people's ability to be self-sufficient.

If this passes then they will go after farms, processing facilities, breeding operations, and homesteaders.
The Republic is lost.

If hunting is banned, leftists assume there's no justification for owning a firearm.  *****rollingeyes*****

Next thing you know Origone libs will try to outlaw sex with farm animals. Date night will never be the same.

Fishrrman prediction:

This is going to pass, or -- if not -- come very close to doing so.
And if it fails, betcha they try again.

Forget it, folks.
It's Oregon...

Animal activists in Oregon reportedly have enough signatures to put their "Initiative Petition 28" on the ballot, which would effectively BAN fishing, hunting, and livestock in the state

Fools. In five years the overpopulation of deer will prove they're fools. Then come the eventual predators which will overpopulate on the abundance of deer.

They already played this crap around big cities back east. The outcome is exactly predictable by reason of history.

Ultimately it will end up with a total ban on the sale of meat, period.

So if they ban fishing, this would kill recreational and commercial fishing?  They'd wipe out an entire industry?  Why don't they ban meat while they are at it.  *****rollingeyes*****

That's the idea - but again, it will result in way less tourism, and way more overpopulation of fisheries.

We need a fridge truck or three and a bunch of good ol' boys to be 'professional hunters' and go thin the nuisance species for them. Charge them a lot, and take the meat and hides to more sane pastures. Be a nice job for the Fall.

No need to ban meat if Bill Gates' (alleged) tick brigade bites us all, rendering us allergic to it.

I was famished the other day and the road I was on had a dollar General and a Mickey D's every 3 miles.  So I rolled into the place with the Golden Arches.  Except, they don't have golden arches anymore.  Whats up with that?  They all look like the Borg Cube...lifeless and uninviting.

So anyway I pull up to the talking wall with a menu on it and  ordered a regular burger and sm fries.  The box asked if I wanted to super size it?  No.  Would you like a drink? No. Just regular burger and a sm fry.  Pull up to the next widdow please and that will be $5.48.  $5.48?  You have got to be shitting me!

Now, I don't know if you can call that half dollar sized greyish brown looking patty meat?  But i guess that is what passes for it today.

Your town could be next ...

Brookline residents warned about aggressive wild turkeys during mating season

The Case of the Terrorist Turkeys

... Communities near Boston, Massachusetts have become a hot spot for human-turkey encounters. In

Brookline—a densely populated town next to Boston—mobs of wild turkeys roam backyards, halt traffic and occupy porches and decks where seed has spilled from bird feeders.

How did did the turkeys get there? And why are the males so aggressive?

“The flocks simply wandered down river corridors and power-line rights-of-way,” says Jim Cardoza, a biologist with Massachusetts Division of Fish and Wildlife “and people are changing wild turkey behavior by feeding them. They soon lose their fear of humans and incorporate us into their view of society. The lordly toms think they’re the boss, and humans are lower in the pecking order.” ...

... hunt them before they hunt you.  Tree-hugging vegan hippies, you have been warned.
