A petition to ban hunting in Oregon is picking up steam.

Animal rights advocates are fighting to change the law in Oregon, including banning most hunting, fishing and animal research. ...

Supporters call the proposal the PEACE Act, short for People for the Elimination of Animal Cruelty Exemptions.  ...

The chief petitioner says they have more than 100,000 signatures so far. By law, they need 117,173 verified signatures by July 2 to qualify for the ballot in November.
These people are certifiably nuts.

Not merely hunting and fishing, but "animal husbandry" as well.
This is the 3rd? (maybe 4th) time they tried to pass this insanity. The 2A quash (BM114) passed on its 6th(?) appearance.
This is why Oregonians *hate* Portland ~ kids with no idea where their chicky-nuggies or MickieDs come from.

  • I was a "conspiracy theorist". Now I'm just right.
Hopefully, this gets smashed at the ballot box, but the bicoastal flood of insanity seems to be just deepening.

Seventeen Techniques for Truth Suppression

Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.

  • Ah, the air is so much fresher here...
Of course it's being smokescreened as preventing cruelty to animals, but the real reason is to clamp down on people's ability to be self-sufficient.

If this passes then they will go after farms, processing facilities, breeding operations, and homesteaders.
The Republic is lost.

If hunting is banned, leftists assume there's no justification for owning a firearm.  *****rollingeyes*****

Next thing you know Origone libs will try to outlaw sex with farm animals. Date night will never be the same.
You don’t become cooler with age but you do care progressively less about being cool, which is the only true way to actually be cool.

Fishrrman prediction:

This is going to pass, or -- if not -- come very close to doing so.
And if it fails, betcha they try again.

Forget it, folks.
It's Oregon...
