Child actress Valerie Lee dies at 95

Valerie Lee Shepard-Haynes had a modest child acting career in the 1930s and 1940s, including bit roles in the Our Gang shorts and, most memorably, as an extra in the troupe of Munchkins in the 1939 film The Wizard of Oz, brought in when Singer's Midgets did not have enough little people to fill all the needed roles.

Her death leaves only two people known to have appeared on-screen in that film still alive: 107-year-old Caren Marsh (Doll), Dorothy's stunt double; and one other child actor who also appeared in the group of munchkins as Valerie had.

Don Schlitz dies at 73

Schlitz was one of country music's most prolific songwriters and the only songwriter to be inducted into the Grand Ole Opry as a member without a successful recording career beforehand. (He had recorded a few minor hits in the 1980s but never cracked the top 40 of the country charts.) His fame largely came after he began appearing on the Opry to sing "Forever and Ever, Amen," the hit he had written for Randy Travis, after Travis suffered a debilitating stroke in the early 2010s.

Schlitz's other famous hits included "When You Say Nothing at All," a major hit for both Keith Whitley and Alison Krauss; "The Gambler," Kenny Rogers's signature song (which had also been Schlitz's highest charting hit as a recording artist); and "The Greatest," a baseball-themed tune Rogers also recorded.

His business partners swindled the family out of most of the money they made during their prime. Compounding things, he refused to declare bankruptcy or let his sons do the same. George was a drill sergeant, literally: he came from a military background and was very strict.

The good news is that, being Mormons, they had developed a strong business acumen. They made some good investments in their later careers (Stadium of Fire, a Branson theater, a string of country music records) that allowed them to pay off their debts and get back into "the black."

On Sunday, April 19, after cooking an amazing dinner with his beloved wife Winifred, he sat down to take a nap with sweet Star (the maltese) at his feet. He passed away peacefully, in his favorite chair, surrounded by the beautiful Carson Valley that he loved so much. A storybook ending. On his own terms. Which is how he lived his life right up until the end.
He leaves a lasting imprint on the soundtrack of our lives and the hearts he has lifted. His legacy will be cherished forever.

Just a little info:

Traffic was primarily active from 1967 to 1974, lasting about seven years during their main run. Founded in Birmingham, UK, the band underwent several breakups and reunions, with a significant partial reunion occurring in 1994. They were officially inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2004.

'Storage Wars' star Darrell Sheets dies at 67: Report

Lake Havasu Police in Arizona told the entertainment outlet that Sheets appeared to have died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head.

Officers responded to a report of a deceased individual at his house at approximately 2 a.m. on Wednesday, police said. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

His body was transferred to the Mohave County Medical Examiner's Office.

"On April 22, 2026, at approximately 0200 hours, officers with the Lake Havasu City Police Department were dispatched to a residence in the 1500 block of Chandler Drive in reference to a reported deceased individual. Upon arrival, officers located a male subject who suffered from what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head. The male was pronounced deceased on scene and the Lake Havasu City Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Unit was notified and responded to the scene to assume the investigation  .  .  .
