Yeah... 200yds is well inside a 30.06 ability, though on the long side. But open sights? Shoot, at 200yds the dot would cover his whole upper body... He had to be guessing at center mass, and held a bit high.
If he aimed center of mass on a downhill shot, the shot would hit high, regardless of iron sights or a scope, if the rifle had been zeroed on level targets. Whether the target is fully covered depends on the front sight or the scope reticle.
As for Mauser actions, so many have been sporterized and rebarreled it isn't funny. While not a 98K, it's still a Mauser.
A friend had an Argentine that had been rechambered in .308 and it was fully capable of taking whitetail with iron sights at 200 yards. (He blew the gun up, but that's another story. Suffice it to say don't reload with unknown powder.)
I have a Mauser action that was reworked with an air gauged barrel (still has the eagle proof on the action) and it's a tack driver.
Much depends on the shooter, too.
But people have already called out questions about the way the scope is mounted on the rifle pictured as the one recovered. It is way too far back (no eye relief), and the rings are up against the turret/front part of the scope.
Frankly, I think this is a plant, a red herring.
I think we aren't just dealing with the Left, but a global effort to get the US in such internal chaos (CWII?) that we can't intervene elsewhere. Cui bono? Russia, China, Iran, and others.
(As for the trannies, those not arm-in-arm with them already have such distrust of that crowd; we'd cross the street to not share the same sidewalk and keep an eye on them every step of the way. This sort of crap gains them no friends, no sympathy, and certainly no ground in any 'fight' they are fighting.)
Other, Global forces have much to gain, but the useful idiots chanting about being repressed or randomly attacking an killing those they have been trained from thee cradle to believe are their mortal enemies are only creating mortal enmity, and if that dam breaks, they will be washed away by the enemies they, themselves, have created.
