Super Bowl viewers were left 'sickened' after social media users began circulating English translations of Spanish lyrics from Bad Bunny's music following his headline-making halftime performance.

Following the show, critics branded the content 'pure degeneracy' and questioned why the NFL put the global superstar on its biggest stage.

The backlash erupted hours after the show, when conservative commentator Megan Basham posted screenshots of translated lyrics, which she described as 'the most obscene lyrics ever to be performed at a Super Bowl halftime.'

In his track, Safaera, Bad Bunny boast about explicit sexual acts, drug use and casual hookups, with repeated references to arousal and sex performed while intoxicated.

One widely shared translation paraphrases a line suggesting that a woman’s partner is inadequate if he does not perform a specific sexual act.

Other tracks of his, like Tití Me Preguntó, reference juggling multiple sexual partners and genital size.

The replay on YouTube has around 20 million views so far based on YouTube's own public metrics. For context, the In Living Color special in '92 drew 25 million. An audience that size would practically have to make a dent into the overall national figures for the official show.

I saw a fake claim of "135.4 million" being floated as the Bad Bunny viewership by multiple media outlets yesterday, which has since worked its way into the AI systems and is thus now being reported as fact. (How do I know it's fake? All traces of it go to a purported screenshot posted by a Bad Bunny fan account on X.) Nielsen disowned that number and said they wouldn't have a figure for it until this afternoon and NBC has yet to say anything about it.

In any event, the real question is lead-in and lead-out, which will all come out this afternoon. Last year, Kendrick Lamar and his dog-whistle of a halftime show lost about 5 million viewers from the 15 minutes immediately before it started.

Now, I'll concede that Telemundo viewership this year will likely be through the roof.

But... on an unrelated note... Bad Bunny doesn't even represent the views of Puerto Ricans in general. The guy who's been peddling anti-USA sentiment and Puerto Rican independence with all the subtlety of an Immortal Technique track (which is to say none at all) stands in stark contrast to a populace that has repeatedly voted for statehood with the U.S. The talking point that "Puerto Rican is American" doesn't stand up well when your main mouthpiece doesn't want it to be American and thinks Hawaii being a state is imperialist. And the one thing that bothered me most of what I've read, other than the typical filth (which should have been known when this guy was on the show six years ago and drew the most complaints since the Timberlake/Janet Jackson wardrobe malfunction of 2004), is that he quoted Irving Berlin's "God Bless America" and completely misrepresented what Berlin meant by that by listing off the entire Western Hemisphere. Berlin came to this country as a child escaping persecution in Russia and had a tremendous appreciation for what this country in particular offered him.

During his speech, Trump called Dart a "future hall of famer," and joked that he would "shake the hand" of any woman who claims they could take down the football player.

OK, for those of you who are not NFL fans, please allow me to identify the folks involved here:

1. Jaxson Dart is the second year quarterback of the New York Football Giants.  He is from Utah, graduated from Ole Miss, and is a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.  Yesterday he introduced President Trump at a political rally in New York, not too far from New York City.

2. Abdul Carter is a second year edge rusher for the New York Football Giants.  He is from Philadelphia and graduated from Penn State.  He is a devout Muslim who prays to Allah on the field before games, and is extremely open about his faith in and out of the locker room. When Carter saw that his teammate had the temerity to accept the honor of introducing President Trump, he ripped him on X.

3. Both Carter and Dart were 1st Round draft picks last year, and both had strong rookie seasons.  Giants’ ownership and management hopefully consider them to be the cornerstones of a team-wide revival to be led by new head coach John Harbaugh (a Super Bowl winner with the Baltimore Ravens and also someone who is not afraid to meet with President Trump). (That optimism exists even though Carter could not stay awake in team meetings last season.)

So with that background in mind, I have this to say to Abdul Carter:

Muslim terrorists destroyed a large swathe of New York City in the name of Allah, yet you are accepted on your team and in NYC, and no one challenges your beliefs or your right to express them.  So how about you shut the fudge up, focus on learning how to sack the QB at the NFL level, learn how to stay awake in team meetings, and stop tearing your team apart when your teammate is given the honor of introducing the President of the United States of America?

This is a free country.  You are free to worship a deity that enslaves women, and Dart is free to say hello to the President.  How about you just accept that, Abdul?
