The Mongols were replaced by Ivan The Terrible.

The Romanov's were replaced by Lenin.

If you are going to play the regime change game, don't vacate the throne until you have successors ready to occupy it.

A power vacuum unleashes forces beyond control and predictability.  America won the war against Saddam Hussein in 2003, but lost the peace to Iran and ISIS.  Paul Bremer was not strong enough, nor competent enough, to coalesce and consolidate America's victory in Iraq.  Paul Bremer was no Saddam Hussien.

In terms of inertia, only a force (or a combination of forces) greater than, or equal to, Putin can displace him.

Trump better be prepared to play dirty ... like sinking or seizing Russia's ghost oil tanker fleet it uses to help India and China skirt sanctions.

Putin not only has the Axis of Evil (Russia, Iran, North Korea, China) to back him, but he also has the (B)razil, (R)ussia, (I)ndia, (C)hina, and (S)outh Africa to help as well.

For Russia to be defeated in Ukraine, India and China need to stop buying oil from Russia.  India has an alliance of convenience with Russia to counter Chinese influence on the Indian subcontinent.

Who cares about some book - he's the most naive and ignorant President we have ever had when it comes to international relations, especially Russian history past and current. He seems to think its some sort of real estate deal and treats it so.
