Definitely NOT a professional 'hitman'. Amateur.

With a professional, nobody would know 'what happened?'. With a professional, nobody would ever know where he was or even that he was ever there at all. The professionals are called 'ghosts' for a reason. The opposite of discretion, the shooter stood directly in the middle of the sidewalk in full view of everyone, he left shell casings behind, AND he allowed himself to be photographed. This shooter is not a ghost.

Whoever/Whatever is behind this assassination, it was not done on a professional level. This means to me, that it is more than likely some disgruntled employee or customer type layman. The hit was not organized by the government or some megabillion dollar corporate entity. They would not have been so sloppy. It is only a matter of time until this guy is caught.

And end up on trail (sic) ?  No thanks.

Cowardly and stupid.  An awful combination.

I agree that someone will take the fall but doubt seriously that it will be the actual triggerman.
"I wish it need not have happened in my time," said Frodo.

His photos are now widespread and you think he will get away with it?  Bet me $100.

You think the guy in that photo actually looks anything like the guy in that photo?  I seriously doubt that.

Should have used a revolver. Should never have gone to Starbucks or anywhere else for that matter.
Stay on mission.

Why did he need more than one shot from that range? Why did he allow them to track his escape route?
Not only is the shooter not at all a professional, he is not even as clever as an average TV show.

I believe he will be caught ... and soon.

Or he went all out to make it look that way. We'll likely never know for sure. @240B

Maybe? I guess? But a professional would have no time for 'games'. Get it done and get lost. That's all.
No cryptic clues or subterfuge. Just get it done and go ... disappear.

Saw some security camera footage, and it looked like it could have been a professional hit.

I was thinking the same thing yesterday. But today, based on the amount of evidence this guy left behind, I doubt it was a professional hit. A pro would not have stayed at a hostel using a fake ID, nor left DNA and fingerprints, as this guy apparently did.

As I stated early in the thread, this was a person using a silencer that didn't function like it should... He was NOT a professional... A professional would have a gun that functions with subsonic with a suppressor... this person looks like they wanted to be professional without doing their homework (practice with the gun). This guy probable knew how to clear his gun and little else.

Not the same guy...the color of the bag and straps are different, and the shooter's complexion is lighter.

The complexion is a mater of the camera and lighting.  The different jackets and backpacks could be because the photos were taken on different occasions.  He does seem to have feminine features based on another photo that was released. Maybe a transitioner who was denied coverage?

Exactly, @massadvj !

IMO, they're going to have this guy in custody very soon.

Anyone who has watched "COLD CASES" would know that familial DNA testing, can locate the perpetrator going back generations.

They know the hostel room (teen hotel) in which he stayed.
Also, the "E-bike" which all have GPS/Lojack

Just as they know tell what phone numbers were in the vicinity of the Capitol on January 6th 2021.

Approaching 48 hours since the shooting.  We all know how the odds drop per hour.  Who knows, he might be in Tahiti by now.
Since, this is (was) a planned hit, you'd think he'd have those exit details worked out.

OTOH, considering he was dumb enough to be spotted by security scans,  he might not be that smart.

The Extremely Gleeful, Extremely Dark Reaction to a CEO’s Killing
This is real life. Not ‘John Wick.’
By Kat Rosenfield
December 5, 2024

Brian Thompson, the fifty-year-old CEO of UnitedHealthcare, was gunned down on the street in New York yesterday, in what appears to be a carefully planned and utterly cold-blooded assassination. I say appears because the shooting was captured on video: The killer, masked and dressed in black, steps out from behind a parked car as Thompson passes. A moment later, Thompson stumbles, falls, and doesn’t get up.

It is terrible to watch—and yet, even this literal snuff film is less disturbing than the various critics and commentators, many of them self-described progressive empaths who preach compassion for the marginalized and hashtag their posts with “#BeKind,” who are treating this real murder of a real person as though it were the emotionally cathartic climax of a John Wick movie—the part where the archetypal villain gets his just deserts. The police later revealed that the bullets fired at Thompson had the industry terms deny, defend, and depose written on them—a cinematic detail that only further encouraged the notion that he was killed as vengeance for UnitedHealthcare’s misdeeds.

The online reaction has been extremely gleeful and extremely dark: “My thoughts and prayers are on hold pending prior authorization,” reads one representative (and massively upvoted) comment on a New York Times Facebook story about the murder. Taylor Lorenz, recently of The Washington Post, wrote, “and they wonder why we want these executives dead” on Bluesky before cross-posting the name and photo of Blue Cross Blue Shield CEO Kim Keck to her accounts on multiple platforms (along with a cheeky suggestion that her followers engage in “very peaceful letter writing campaigns” against murderous insurance execs). ...

Not only John Wick, but elements like I remember like Death Race 2000.  Watch the left start putting a point system on "kills"

  • Well EXCUSE me!
You think the guy in that photo actually looks anything like the guy in that photo?  I seriously doubt that.
If, I say if I was to be so angry that I felt the need to kill somebody I would certainly plan it out better than this clod, I would make sure my weapon functioned properly with the ammunition, probably use a revolver so I didn’t have to worry about spent cases with prints or DNA and most of all I would wear a disguise, there are some excellent realistic full head masks with matching realistic gloves
https://www.google.com/search?q=lifelike+full+head+masks+and+gloves&rlz=1C9BKJA_enUS1124US1124&oq=lifelike+full+head+masks+and+gloves&gs_lcrp=EgZjaHJvbWUyBggAEEUYOdIBCTIzMzkxajBqN6gCCrACAeIDBBgBIF8&hl=en-US&sourceid=chrome-mobile&ie=UTF-8#sbfbu=1&pi=lifelike%20full%20head%20masks%20and%20gloves

And I would certainly have a good escape route planned….if I were ever so angry, but then a long range shot from a suppressed long gun would be a much safer and intelligent way to go.
