The CEO of UnitedHealth was fatally shot in the chest Wednesday morning outside the Hilton hotel in Midtown in what police say was a targeted attack.

Brian Thompson, 50, was at the hotel at around 6:46 a.m. when a masked man fired at the CEO and fled eastbound off of 6th Avenue, police sources told The Post.

Thomas was rushed to the hospital in critical condition, where he was pronounced dead, police said ...

Brian Thompson was named chief executive officer for UnitedHealthcare in April 2021. Prior to this role, he served as CEO of UnitedHealthcare government programs including Medicare & Retirement and Community & State. Before leading government programs, Thompson served as CEO of UnitedHealthcare Medicare & Retirement.

Thompson joined UnitedHealth Group in 2004 and has held numerous leadership positions including chief financial officer for UnitedHealthcare’s Employer & Individual, Community & State and Medicare & Retirement businesses. In addition, Thompson has served as the financial controller for UnitedHealthcare's Employer & Individual business and a director in Corporate Development.

The targeted attack unfolded just steps away from the Hilton on Sixth Avenue, where UnitedHealth Group's annual investor conference was set to take place.

The shooting occurred at approximately 6:45 a.m. ET, as Thompson approached the hotel. Surveillance video revealed the gunman lying in wait, arriving at the scene about five minutes before Thompson. NYPD Chief of Detectives Joseph Kenny described the harrowing sequence: the suspect ignored multiple passersby, focusing solely on Thompson. The gunman shot him in the back and continued firing even after his pistol jammed.

One would have to be a fool to travel to NYC with criminals being given the green light to brazenly rob, rape and kill with little accountability.

And the CEO of a large company has some of the best security of any and he was still assassinated.

Brian Thompson, 50, was shot in the back and calf outside the New York Hilton Midtown hotel in what police officials described as a "premeditated, preplanned, targeted attack" against the insurance giant CEO.

Thompson was shot around 6:45 a.m. as he walked to the Hilton Midtown from where he was staying at a nearby hotel. UnitedHealth Group was set to hold an investor day at the Hilton on Wednesday but canceled it after reports of the shooting, CNBC reports.

Thompson’s wife, Paulette Thompson, told NBC News that the executive told her "there were some people that had been threatening him.” She said she didn't have details, but suggested they may have involved issues with insurance coverage.  ...

Looks like a silencer on the gun (I don't make or model from grainy video).... but looks like it didn't like the silencer (cycle issues)... May of been a 22lr or 9mm... could of been a young white man 20s to 40s judging by the walk. Subsonic 22lr are under powered to cycle most guns.

He ejected 3 live rounds that he didn't police before he ran off.  What you said might be why those didn't load.

Multiple senior executives at UnitedHealthcare have been under investigation by the Department of Justice, though it is not clear if CEO Brian Thompson was part of that investigation before his murder.

Thompson was gunned down in midtown Manhattan on Wednesday morning in what police are calling a targeted attack.

There were reports that the executives were accused of insider trading and fraud, and last year the DOJ launched a probe into whether the nation’s largest insurer was unfairly restricting competitors and running a monopoly.

Last month, the DOJ along with attorneys generals from Maryland, Illinois, New Jersey and New York filed a lawsuit to block UnitedHealth Group Incorporated’s proposed $3.3 billion acquisition of rival home health and hospice provider Amedisys Inc.

Look, I have no idea why this occurred, but fact is that if you had a loved one who was denied care by this insurance company you'd probably look at is as though they were sort of complicit in their death. That's just a fact IMO.

New evidence suggests that the suspect who killed UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson on Wednesday may have left a message behind on the bullet casings at the scene.

Police sources told the New York Post that the words "deny," "depose" and "defend" were written on the live rounds and casings left behind by the assassin after the shooting.

Evidence also shows that each bullet and casing had just one word written on it leading them to believe he may have been trying to leave a message, sources said.

In a shocking video obtained by Fox News Digital, Thompson is seen walking down a New York City sidewalk when a masked man wearing a black hooded jacket and a backpack walks up behind him and raises a handgun.

Kim Keck was not responsible for any BCBS decision about anesthesia coverage, though, from what I understand. Nevertheless, some failed "journalist" is calling for her execution. That's sick, not justifiable.

It’s just that it’s a possible motive is all I’m saying. And of course, the CEO didn’t personally order it, but he might be sort of perceived as having enriched himself from among other things the death of a loved one that would probably enrage some people.
