Reading a few other stories it look like the "Ukrainian" was either a confidential informant or an FBI agent. You're right that it stinks but it stinks of the Deep State trying its best to assassinate President Trump.

Trying to frame the Ukrainians too...they never gave this guy anything, and its not even clear if they were even talking to him.  He could have been talking to a Russian pretending to be some Ukrainian for all anybody knows.

If you read the mainstream stories about the court filings you'll see that they keep saying that Routh believed that the man was a Ukrainian.

Yes, the court filings (linked in the above FOX story) indicate Routh believed his contact to be Ukrainian. The prosecution didn't state in its filings whether the guy actually was Ukraininan, an informant, or what.

According to state police, Routh parked in a spot with a clear view of where Trump parked his plane.
The distance is about 1,500 meters from the parking garage to where the planes park --- well within the range of a stinger missile.
