Crooks was very smart and well organized. I suspect he was also suicidal where he went into this without any exit strategy. It's hard to stop or impede people like that and we've seen this repeatedly with Muslim jihadis like on 9/11 and etc.

I have pondered on that a bit, and would assert that his exit was merely unrealized... at least two modes of transport in different locations... a car rigged to blow remotely... All that stuff had, or at least, may have had a purpose... a potential that remains undone... That leads me to believe there is a chance he was not suicidal, and thought he might get out.

The FBI is seeking to interview former President Donald Trump about his assassination attempt to obtain a victim statement, according to CNN. The interview is standard procedure for a crime victim.

The agency has maintained that the shooting was an assassination attempt and continues to examine evidence from the scene.

“Since the day of the attack, the FBI has been consistent and clear that the shooting was an attempted assassination of former President Trump which resulted in his injury, as well as the death of a heroic father and the injuries of several other victims,” the agency said in a statement on Thursday.

FBI Director Christopher Wray was questioned on Capitol Hill on Wednesday and said there was “some question” whether a bullet or shrapnel hit Trump.

Republicans, including the former president, have seized on the statement to raise questions about Wray’s leadership of the agency.

“No, it was, unfortunately, a bullet that hit my ear, and hit it hard. There was no glass, there was no shrapnel,” Trump wrote on Truth Social on Thursday. “No wonder the once storied FBI has lost the confidence of America!”

*Eight, that is if all the shots were from Crooks' rifle. Sound signature analysis of the elapsed time between the (supersonic) bullets' arrival and the arrival of the sound of the bullet being fired had two distinct time frames.
If all the bullets were fired from the same place, by the same rifle, that lag between the arrival of the bullet and the arrival of the sound of it being fired should be consistent for all shots.

I am leaning heavily toward two offensive shooters (a pro and a patsy), and then the Security detail sharpshooter taking Crooks out.

This room was the overwatch view where a Butler County SWAT sniper team was stationed at the direction of the Secret Service for the Trump rally. ... There was a three man SWAT sniper team located in this position. One member of the team went home early — not sure how this was allowed but it happened. The remaining two snipers positioned in this room were notified that a suspicious individual [Crooks] was lurking outside the building. One team member left his position to investigate, leaving just one sniper with overwatch of the roof.

The investigating team member found nothing and in the process of returning to his position realized he had forgotten his access card into the building. The last remaining sniper with overwatch LEFT [!!!] the position to retrieve his team member locked outside.

Republican Texas Rep. Ronny Jackson, the former White House physician with direct knowledge about former President Donald Trump’s ear wound, disputed FBI Director Christopher Wray on Friday after he previously questioned whether a bullet caused the former president’s injury.

Wray said on Wednesday that “there’s some question” on whether Trump got hit by “a bullet or shrapnel” during the July 13 assassination attempt while testifying to the House Judiciary Committee about the FBI’s handling of the incident. Jackson released a statement on Friday saying there is “absolutely no evidence” anything other than a bullet injured Trump’s upper right ear.

“During the Congressional Hearing two days ago, FBI Director Christopher Wray suggested that it could be a bullet, shrapnel, or glass,” Jackson wrote. “There is absolutely no evidence that it was anything other than a bullet. Congress should correct the record as confirmed by both the hospital and myself. Director Wray is wrong and inappropriate to suggest anything else.”

I was pretty angry by their actions, but honestly, I am sure that they fell even worse about their ineptitude.  I hope the new and improved USSS does some risk assessments, and assigns agents, based on their physical capabilities and skills based on a probability of an attack.  Example:  Placement of agents to the  POTUS should not be and look like what we would give Jimmy Carter.
