Blanche: Let’s talk for a minute about this August 2015 meeting between Michael Cohen, David Pecker and President Trump, and Hope Hicks supposedly was in-and-out.

This is the same thing AMI had been doing for decades, per Mr. Peckers testimony. They had been doing this for Mr. Trump since the 90’s.

Blanche: There is nothing wrong with a politician like President Trump trying to get positive news stories and avoid negative stories. That’s a campaign, there is nothing illegal about that.

The idea that people could believe that stories in the National Enquirer could influence the 2016 election, at a circulation of only 350k people, compared to the multiples more by that New York Times and other outlets, is absurd.

Blanche now bringing up Mr. Pecker’s testimony that he helped kill a story on Rahm Emmanuel, Ari Emmanuel’s brother, about an affair he had to help Rahm run for Mayor of Chicago.

Side note: Ari Emmanuel is the inspiration behind the hit HBO show Entourage; the character Ari is based of Ari Emmanuel. Rahm Emmanuel is Barrack Obama’s first Chief of Staff and is the former Mayor of Chicago.

“To be clear, it was not Ms. McDougal’s plan to publish her story. And the reason why the details matter is that because she never wanted her story published, she did not want to influence the election.”

“So she was paid $150k, no question about that. But remember, she had an entourage around her. Davidson took $45K, her bodyguard was compensated, Gina Rodriguez was compensated. So what Ms. McDougal got was not much. But it did not bother her, because she was not motivated to get her story out. She wanted to be published.”

Blanche: When Mr. Pecker tells you that half the stories that the National Enquirer buys, they don’t publish, that never matters.

Now going on the Sajudin story about a made up love child that President Trump had.

Points out that if this story was true, Pecker said it would have sold 10 Million papers and he had a fiduciary duty to publish it.

 And as Blanche goes after Cohen, he has to walk a fine line.  Remember, President Trump’s detractors will say – if this guy who was one of his closest employees/confidants was also very shady and underhanded – why did Trump put so much trust in him?  Does that say something about the defendant and his judgment about who was surrounding him and handling his issues? Was this guy in Trump’s employ BECAUSE he was able to get shady things done? Blanche also weaving in the frustrations Cohen had (the lower bonus) and going back over the calculations that lead to the admission that Cohen took more money than he was owed.  Again, planting the seeds that Cohen:  1.  Felt vengeful (which his testimony has only bolstered) and 2. That he cheated his own boss.

This morning break is CRAZY. Blanche likely has less than 30 minutes left in his closing argument, however Merchan wants to interrupt it for a 10 minute break!?

Why not let Blanche finish, then go to lunch break?

We just took a 6 day break during this trial on taxpayer dollars, can we not do 2.5 straight hours without a break!?!

Blanche: Remember that both Stormy Daniels has repeatedly denied that there was never any sex with Mr. Trump in 2018 and before that.

But what did you hear about those statements that the government would have you believe. That Ms. Daniels was coerced, that she was forced to sign them.

But remember, Ms. Daniels said she was forced to go public to defend herself after an alleged encounter in a Las Vegas parking lot in 2011. But having heard the recordings, you know that’s just not true. The recording makes clear that she lied to you about it. She was trying to get money from President Trump in the fall of 2016.
