Hezbollah's acting leader has issued a chilling threat to Israel in his latest television statement, as conflict between the IDF and the terror group gets more and more bitter.

Acting leader Sheikh Naim Kassem, assigned to the post following the IDF's assassination of Hassan Nasrallah using an airstrike on September 27, said in a defiant televised statement today that even more Israelis would be displaced as Hezbollah fires rockets further into Israel.

He also claimed that despite the severe damage done using airstrikes and the pager and walkie-talkie explosions, Hezbollah's capabilities were still intact.

Kassem said: 'We are firing hundreds of rockets and dozens of drones. A large number of settlements and cities are under the fire of the resistance.

'Our capabilities are fine and our fighters are deployed along the front lines.'

He said Hezbollah's top leaders are directing the war and that commanders killed by Israel have been replaced, saying: 'We have no vacant posts.'

Rescuers are searching for survivors following an Israeli airstrike in the south of Lebanese with villagers told to not return home.

UN peacekeepers in Lebanon have warned against a 'catastrophic' regional conflict as Israeli forces battled Hezbollah and Hamas militants on two fronts, on the holiest day of the Jewish calendar.

Israel has faced a fierce diplomatic backlash over incidents in south Lebanon that saw five UN peacekeepers injured.

Lebanon's health ministry said on Saturday that an Israeli air strikes on two villages near Beirut killed at least nine people.

Official media later reported an Israeli strike targeted a market in Nabatiyeh, an important southern city.

Hezbollah claimed it had destroyed four military bases in Israel today as it launched a blistering rocket attack across the southern border.

The Iranian-proxy group said it had hit bases in Al-Jarrah, Za'rit and bases in the Golan Heights after claiming to have pushed back advancing forces late Friday.

Its fighters were 'targeting the explosives factory there with a salvo of... missiles', the group said in a statement this morning.

Sirens sounded in northern Israel, with the military saying it had 'successfully intercepted' a 'number of launches' from Lebanon on Yom Kippur, the holiest day in the Jewish calendar.

Clashes between Hezbollah and Israel escalated as the Iran-backed Islamic Resistance in Iraq reportedly continued drone attacks in the Golan Heights, according to Iranian state media.

Four Israeli soldiers are dead and 67 are hurt after Hezbollah aerial attack last night in what was labelled as the 'deadliest strike' since the invasion of Lebanon began. 

The strike in the Binyamina area followed a barrage of rockets from Lebanon.

It was unclear whether the victims were soldiers or ­civilians. Of the three drones launched from Lebanon, two were intercepted but one breached Israeli air defences.

It appeared to be completely undetected, so no warning sirens were activated.

Yesterday the Israel Defence Force said it had ­conducted 200 airstrikes against Hezbollah targets across Lebanon in the past 24 hours, deploying four divisions to dismantle the group's ­infrastructure in the south of the country.

But it is ­struggling to significantly curb rocket fire on Israel.

Yesterday's strike was the ­second time in two days that a drone has got through. On ­Saturday, during the Yom ­Kippur holiday, a drone hit a suburb of Tel Aviv, causing ­damage but no injuries.

There should be a cone of bone fragments in the images. Not present. Not buying it. (Not to mention what the hydraulic shock of that bullet would do to the brain matter.) In order for there to be little damage, the shot would have to have happened at considerable distance, when the bullet had lost most of its energy.

Pentagon deploying 100 troops, missile defense system to Israel

The Pentagon announced on Sunday that President Joe Biden had directed Defense Department Secretary Lloyd Austin to deploy a Terminal High-Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) missile defense system and 100 troops to Israel as tension continues to build in the Middle East following Iran’s recent attack against Israel. 

In a statement released on Sunday, Pentagon Press Secretary Maj. Gen. Pat Ryder said, “At the direction of the President, Secretary Austin authorized the deployment of a Terminal High-Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) battery and associated crew of U.S. military personnel to Israel to help bolster Israel’s air defenses following Iran’s unprecedented attacks against Israel on April 13 and again on October 1.”

Ryder explained that the deployment of the THAAD missile defense system would help “augment” Israel’s existing air defense system in the region, adding that the Pentagon’s announcement demonstrates the “ironclad commitment” of the United States to “the defense of Israel” and to “defend Americans in Israel” from additional ballistic missile attacks by Iran.

I, as well, have always thought the inclusion was wrong. They may have been making moves toward being a modern society, but no more. I didn't know they were called "the sick man".

The Turks fought with the US in Korea, in fact, the Turkish Brigade relieved my Dad's unit which had been under heavy attack by the Chinese. Had they not done so, I would not be here. They had policed up all the ammo from anyone who could not shoot, and were running out, rolling grenades down the slope to keep the Chinese troops at bay. Dad was one of two in his unit who could walk down that ridge on their own, everyone else was either dead or a litter case. All the survivors were wounded. Even given that, the treatment of the Armenians a  few decades earlier was a distinct contrast to the performance of that unit in Korea.

The new moles replacing the whacked moles are less smart and more likely to make mistakes that will harm Hamas (ditto Hezbollah).
