When I worried about a dillo coming in my yard, my vet told me he used to catch dillos for use in medical research when he was in school. He never became infected.

Yeah, the chances are low.  Still, people do die of it.  I'm just saying I hope that one is fine.

If it don't taste like chicken...it's not on my menu

I found a armdiillo carcus on my property not long ago. I will admit it was interesting Very prehistoric.

Sorry, y'all. I might have had high expectations of the purpose of this thread. I was using it as a place of refuge and escape from sad/bad/contentious discussions. If I overreacted, I'm sorry. I was needing a safe place to escape from all that. Forgive me as I'm operating 24/7 with tears at the ready for all that's happened over the past week. And I didn't even get much damage! So many of my fellow Texans (family, friends, strangers) did.

On the bright side, Dickinson is needing volunteers to help with the rescued animals. I have found my niche! Now I'm just waiting to hear from them to learn how I can help.

Sorry, y'all. I might have had high expectations of the purpose of this thread. I was using it as a place of refuge and escape from sad/bad/contentious discussions. If I overreacted, I'm sorry. I was needing a safe place to escape from all that. Forgive me as I'm operating 24/7 with tears at the ready for all that's happened over the past week. And I didn't even get much damage! So many of my fellow Texans (family, friends, strangers) did.

On the bright side, Dickinson is needing volunteers to help with the rescued animals. I have found my niche! Now I'm just waiting to hear from them to learn how I can help.

I donate regularly to Best Friends which is supposed to be onsite. Then many animals may be coming to shelters near San Antonio. Will research.

Which rules out PETA and Humane Society of the United States.  Two outfits that don't help very much.  Stay away from PETA, they don't believe in keeping pets and kill every one they can get their hands on (even if they have to steal one from your porch), and HSUS doesn't spend much of its money on shelters, it's a political action group that lobbies for a living.

I like our AZ Humane Society quite a bit, they have a no-kill shelter.

I agree with your assessment of PETA and HSUS. I used to give to them but no longer. I sent something to Best Friends to the link on the front page. They state that every bit of the donation will go to help Hurricane Harvey critters.
