Roo the one-year-old rescued Golden Retriever who never had any toys, or so much as anything to chew, grew up imprisoned, starved, and neglected. This is the first time she gets to choose her own toy at a pet shop. 

Quite a picky gal, but she knows what she wants when she sees it!

@Freya I couldn't find the dog/cat thread so I'm posting this here.

Thank you my little Jack Russell for 14 wonderful years of loyalty, playfulness, obnoxiousness, and for making the death of my father 14 years ago bearable. It broke my heart to have to take you to the vet this morning to have you put down, but watching you suffer uncontrollably in back pain, is not something I could continue to put you through.  I'm sorry I couldn't hold you as they put you to sleep, but I just couldn't bear to watch.  Please forgive me..... 

Thank you God for my dear friend.

I know the dog can't hear me....but I feel better....lol.  ^-^

@mrpotatohead my heart goes out to you.

You little Jack Russell knew you were doing an act of kindness, a mitvah because he was in pain. He knew you loved him more than anything for his entire life and was his best friend.

All dogs go to heaven and he's at the rainbow bridge waiting for you to someday join him. This I believe.
Take care of yourself now, be kind to yourself.  It's miserable loosing a dog or a cat or a mom and dad. We are here for you and we care about you.

Is that him in your profile picture?  What a little cutie.

It's hard to do the right thing when it comes to that point, but it definitely IS the right thing to prevent them from suffering needlessly.

@mrpotatohead I'm so sorry for this, and the pain you're having to go through, but I hope it's comforting to know that you did the right thing.   You had many years with your friend, and he or she knew love til the end.  Remember those great times you shared.
