Why not instead fight for a return to the Constitutionally constrained Federal Government, the return of power to the States and the People that should never have been usurped, and the stripping from existence of myriad agencies which have taken on the role of legislator, judge, and jury as well.
Because this people don't want that. The ones that do are in their 50's or older.
Because Obama has transformed the Executive into a monarchy with aid from the GOP itself under McConnell and Boehner, the Republicans and the Joe Sixpacks want their own emperor on the throne, while the Communists and Maoists and Marxists want theirs.
The very idea of Constitutional Liberty is lost among the majority of the population, and I discover every single day just how ignorant this people are in terms of what that was supposed to mean.
Today, everyone has their own definition of freedom and even among so-called Conservatives - a common belief and core is no longer agreed to. Faith and principles are ridiculed. Heck, you can read that every single day right here along with the analysis of how principles destroy the good and people who hold to such principles are an enemy to be crushed.
Populist Nationalism has engulfed a people who do not identify with Democratic Socialists. They want revenge and punishment. They have heard those promises and responded. They see their Il Douche as the solution to all that ails them and they can care less whether or not he will rule as a tyrant or be bound to Constitutional constraints. As they have actually written, if Trump be a tyrant, at least he is THEIR tyrant.
Self evident proof that a Republic is no longer even an option in the minds of those who call themselves 'Conservative'.
I will post again these words from John Adams:
But a Constitution of Government once changed from Freedom, can never be restored. Liberty once lost is lost forever. When the People once surrender their share in the Legislature, and their Right of defending the Limitations upon the Government, and of resisting every Encroachment upon them, they can never regain it. - July 7, 1775
