March 27, 2023 12:04pm EDT Multiple people injured in shooting at Nashville's Covenant School; shooter dead Police responded to a shooting Covenant School, a private Christian elementary school By Anders Hagstrom | Fox News
First responders in Tennessee are on the scene a shooting at a Nashville-area elementary school Monday.
Authorities have yet to confirm how many people have been injured or killed in the incident, but police say officers engaged with and killed the shooter. Covenant School is a private Christian institution for students up to 6th grade, according to its website.
"We are responding to an active aggressor at 33 Burton Hills Blvd Covenant School. We can confirm we have multiple patients," the Nashville Fire Department said Monday.
"Parents coming to the school should go to 20 Burton Hills at this time, this is an active scene," the statement continued.
The Metro Nashville PD confirmed the shooter's death in a statement, adding that the school was already working on reunifying parents and children.
"An active shooter event has taken place at Covenant School, Covenant Presbyterian Church, on Burton Hills Dr. The shooter was engaged by MNPD and is dead. Student reunification with parents is at Woodmont Baptist Church, 2100 Woodmont Blvd.," the department wrote in a statement.

For most of this country’s history you would’ve never heard of this. It was unthinkable
I always think back to when I was a teenager. We could bring our guns to school and nobody batted an eye
Is America worth saving anymore? How do you save a country where there’s a significant number of people whose warped minds make them walk into a school and shoot kids?
No doubt the left is all orgasmic over this as they are going to try to push for more gun legislation. But guns have always been in society.

Once again demonstrating that the problem is not the mere presence of guns, but the mental instability and visciousness of the person who does the killing.
In short, it is people who kill people, not guns.
Until that underlying reality is addressed, this will keep happening, whether it's with guns, knives, or cars (remember the murder who used his car to kill children because they were white?).

I've mentioned that Mr. M and I are on our church's armed security team. Our church also operates a preschool. Our team has received training and spent a lot of time establishing safety procedures for Sundays, weekdays, the preschool, and every event held on church premises.
The shooter in this case entered by an unlocked side door. Never, ever leave any church or school door unlocked or propped open (as in Uvalde). Every single door in the complex should have been locked, requiring all visitors to go to only one main entrance and ring for admittance. The person answering the bell also should be monitoring the surveillance cameras, and ask via intercom for the visitor's reason for being there. The unlocked door here may have been an oversight or an unintentional variance from safety rules, but it serves to remind us of the importance of those procedures.

The profile fits someone who is left-wing. NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — Newly released video shows the moments a shooter made their way into a Nashville school where several people died Monday.
The Metro Nashville Police Department released surveillance video Monday night of the shooting at The Covenant School in Green Hills.
Seven people, including the suspect, died in the shooting. The shooter has been identified as 28-year-old Audrey Hale.
According to Metro police, the students killed in the shooting were Evelyn Dieckhaus, Hallie Scruggs and William Kinney, all aged 9.
Three staff members who were killed have been identified as Katherine Koonce, 60, and Cynthia Peak and Mike Hill, both 61.

The Nashville, Tennessee, school shooter told her former middle school basketball teammate that she planned to commit suicide minutes before entering the school, according to locals news outlet News Channel 5.
The suspected Covenant School shooter, 28-year-old Audrey Hale, a woman who is transgender and goes by “he/him” pronouns, told Averianna Patton at 9:57 a.m. in an Instagram direct message that Hale was going to die by suicide, according to News Channel 5. At 10:13 a.m., the Nashville Police Department received a call that there was an active shooter in the Covenant School.
“I’m planning to die today,” Hale wrote. “THIS IS NOT A JOKE!!! You’ll probably hear about me on the news after I die. This is my last goodbye. I love you. See you again in another life.”
Hale shot through Covenant School doors before firing at and killing three children and three adults. Nashville Police Department officers engaged with Hale, a previous student at the school, killing her. Before attacking the school, Hale had allegedly drawn maps detailing entrance points to the building and had been surveilling the school.
“One day this will make more sense,” Hale wrote to Patton. “I’ve left behind more than enough evidence behind. But something bad is about to happen.”

The police in this case did a fine job. The only mistake here was an unlocked side door, permitting the shooter to get in. Had she had to ring a buzzer at the front entrance and state her business - with security cameras rolling - it would have been a different story. :crying:

The fog of reporting got it wrong initially. The door was locked but the shooter shot the heavy glass out and entered through the lower section. Clearly a security weakness that needs to be considered elsewhere.

Yeah, you're right. I wasn't aware she'd shot out the doors - and not just walked in - until I saw the video Myst posted. We've been trying to be proactive with security at our church and preschool, but it isn't cheap. We're switching from metal keys to electronic ones, for example, to make entry more difficult. Changing out all the doors altogether would cost a fortune, but administrators of churches, private schools, etc., still need to find a way to do it.

What about replacing the glass panels in the doors with security glass? Something that would be very difficult to make a big enough hole in to permit a person to crawl through. That might be less expensive than replacing the entire door.

I think in a lot of instances a stainless steel bar or plate could be retrofitted to the door to prohibit someone climbing through even if the glass is blown out.

The 28-year-old transgender attacker who opened fire on a Nashville Christian school Monday used guns that were legally purchased.

Hale's home address is about three miles away from the Covenant School, according to public records. The FBI, ATF, and local police cordoned off that home with crime scene tape on Monday afternoon.
Investigators found a "manifesto" and other writings that they are looking into as they search for a motive.
Hand drawn maps of the school with detailed entry points were also located at the residence.
A LinkedIn profile and personal website that appear to be affiliated with Hale describe her as a graphic designer who creates logos for businesses. She graduated from Nossi College of Art with a degree in illustration and graphic design last year, according to the LinkedIn profile.

@Lando Lincoln had a good idea as well: fitting the doors with some sort of a barrier that would prevent entry - that would at least permit you to find a solution that was visually attractive - like the old curved wrought-iron security bars over windows in places like Mexico City - but still sufficient to prevent someone like this from gaining entrance.

Yeah, you're right. I wasn't aware she'd shot out the doors - and not just walked in - until I saw the video Myst posted. We've been trying to be proactive with security at our church and preschool, but it isn't cheap. We're switching from metal keys to electronic ones, for example, to make entry more difficult. Changing out all the doors altogether would cost a fortune, but administrators of churches, private schools, etc., still need to find a way to do it.
I believe the best security is to have only one gated entry with 2 trained, armed security officers checking the ID and reason for entry. You would have only one entry before that gate where a person has to check in and have a reason why they want access into the school - also that entry needs to be staffed with a trained, armed security guard. So we're talking a couple of gates and a minimum of 3 security officers.
If a gunman/woman gets beyond those points than obviously back up is needed. But I believe the above would make it much more difficult to access the school(s).
For a gunman/woman to access they would have to open fire on the first security officer -- meanwhile the other two would immediately respond and hopefully able to call for back up.
Just my two cents.

None. There is no protection except what is on the ground at the time. Even if the LEOs respond like these did, it was still too late.
But by the same token, without turning schools into prisons, there is no effective answer except that which can be performed ad-hoc at the time.

None. There is no protection except what is on the ground at the time. Even if the LEOs respond like these did, it was still too late.
But by the same token, without turning schools into prisons, there is no effective answer except that which can be performed ad-hoc at the time.
The real problem is the mental state that performs the act, and the social prompts that encourage it,
School attacks were few to non-existent growing up... This is kinda a new thing. And a societal problem.

I don't think this shooter killed because she was trans. I think she was mentally ill, and being trans was just one manifestation of that. The link between psychotropics and mass killings is denied by establishment medicine (no surprise), but there is more than a little evidence out there that psychotropics have the side effect of wanting to cause harm to yourself or others.

Sounds plausible to me. I had only heard rumors that she considered a church, but I think it has leaked out more decisively that it is true. Has the manifesto been revealed yet? I always tend to graze their motives (if long, just a few pages is usually enough).

Watched the video(s), those guys got it done. She just shot the glass out of the front doors and scrunched through them. She came in hot and just walked around casually shooting when she found someone to shoot at.
S/H/it was standing on the second floor popping shots off at police cars when she got put down. I wonder if she even bothered with hearing protection and couldn't hear the hero police coming up behind her. I know I recently bought some sound canceling headphone/earphones that still lets you hear voice range talking, I really like them (and they weren't too expensive either).

I believe the best security is to have only one gated entry with 2 trained, armed security officers checking the ID and reason for entry. You would have only one entry before that gate where a person has to check in and have a reason why they want access into the school - also that entry needs to be staffed with a trained, armed security guard. So we're talking a couple of gates and a minimum of 3 security officers.
If a gunman/woman gets beyond those points than obviously back up is needed. But I believe the above would make it much more difficult to access the school(s).
For a gunman/woman to access they would have to open fire on the first security officer -- meanwhile the other two would immediately respond and hopefully able to call for back up.
Just my two cents.
That runs headlong into fire codes.

They also appear to use another encrypted messaging app called signal (at least back in 2020).
There are, most likely, even some DIY or roll-your-own proprietary apps the higher ups in the eschelon use to communicate with each other.
Phones are probably by and large burner phones.
The FBI would actually have to be committed to bringing down that sort of domestic terror organization and commit serious resources to it; however, since the FBI's preferred political narrative appears to favor Antifa, I don't see that ever happening in the near future.

Common hand and power tools could have been used to terrorize and kill kids and adults.
It is the humans who perform such acts that need to be brought under control, whether through professional help, incarceration, or whatever means--but that is a dangerous and slippery slope. If you look at what is trying to be defined as "normal" nowadays, I think you will agree that there is rampant insanity present in our culture, from COVID masking to gender dysphoria, the whole sense of there being an enemy who is someone who might just disagree who 'needs killing' seems to be taking root.
The division, the jump from rhetoric to violence, which seems to be more easily made as rhetoric become more inflammatory, the simple hatred being fomented for anyone who simply disagrees, marks the end of Civilization if Civilization doesn't fight back. Surveillance photographs and video footage shows the 28-year-old transgender suspect who attacked the Nashville Christian school was using a carbine which fires pistol rounds, not an AR-15.
The 28-year-old was armed with three firearms, and police photos of the guns show that an AR-15 was not one them.
The firearms were an AR-pistol, a handgun, and a carbine. The type of carbine possessed by the attacker uses 9mm or .40 caliber handgun rounds.
From surveillance video, it appears the attacker may have used the AR-pistol to shoot and shatter the glass on the front door. But in photos and videos that show her walking the halls, looking for potential targets, she is holding the carbine.

What's a complete mystery to me is how Antifa communicates in such a way they can assemble people from a thousand miles away from the event/crime/riot in what seems hours.
If it's by cell phone, then they can be traced/uncovered.

Fact is, the NSA...or whatever it's calling itself today...has digital transcripts and/or access to every text or phone call you ever made.
If Google has technology that can bombard you with 2 weeks of Movado watch ads just by spelling it in a text, you know the US government has the ability too. And has had it since it's become digital vs analogue [sic?}
So why aren't any of them being rounded up for participation in riots and/or fires committed since Pres. Trump's inauguration?
Today, they can track a person's movements by their cell phone alone...and those numbers of cell phones that you came within 10 feet.
The tech is there to nail all these bass turds.
Except we're already living in a 'Banana Republic' because or mainstream media complex is being directed by THE LEFT! What's depressing to me is that too many people in my own circle of influence aren't even aware it's happening.

Our church security team has been working with local law enforcement and the fire dept to make sure we're doing things right.
Doors that can only be opened from the inside (with some means for Fire/Rescue/Police to enter) would help with compliance, but they must be kept closed (Uvalde comes to mind).

The problem is the slippery slope. You outlaw clip-fed semi-auto, and 'more than eight rounds' you've just outlawed MOST modern shotguns, rifles, and handguns.
And there is nowhere to draw that line that doesn't.
Pictures of the domestic terrorist don't show her carrying a scary AR-15, she appears to be carrying a KelTec Sub 2000 pistol caliber carbine so a 9mm. And just for the record there are a lot of pistols that can pump out a high rate of fire and accept large capacity magazines that are just as deadly as the AR's that so many people(not you roamer_1) get bent over.

Did you notice he had to ask for "GIMME 3... NOW!!" about a half dozen times though, as they were unlocking the door?
Secondly, two staff told him the shooter was on the 2nd floor and they wasted a lot of time clearing the entire 1st floor before going up there.
Easy to be a Monday morning quarterback. No one was certain as to the number of shooters, or their exact location.

Gutfeld had a really interesting spot on his A Block last night, where he very succintly mentioned that if these events were reported bare bones, and that the media would not sensationalize the massacres, that we might start seeing a drop off in copy cat variations?
