Now what happens? They can't threaten the Speaker pro tem, they can't force the rest of the GOP conference to do anything, and they have no leverage at all. I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if what is happening right now behind closed doors is the rest of the conference telling those folks to 'F off". Because...why not? They don't need the hardliners.

How are they "winnowed out"? There are 210 of them, and one of them is now the Speaker pro tem. All the other leadership positions are the same, so the same folks are still in charge.
And in terms of voters, those folks voted the way they did because they knew they'd be voted out of office if they were responsible for a long shutdown in support of a GOP bill that literally does not exist. They weren't
defying "the voters" by voting for that CR. They were
listening to them.
