In a sit-down interview with Megyn Kelly, former President Donald Trump was given the perfect opportunity to address the masked elephant that’s been lingering in the middle of his campaign room for years — his reliance on the duplicitous Dr. Anthony Fauci — and, as COVID hysteria is once again being pushed by the left ahead of the 2024 elections.

“Not only did you not fire Fauci, who is loathed by many millions of Republicans in particular but also some Democrats, you made him a star,” Kelly told Trump. “This is the criticism of you, that you made him the face of the White House coronavirus task force. That he was out at every presser. That he was running heard for the administration on COVID, and that you actually gave him a Presidential Commendation before he left office.”

It was the moment many Trump supporters have been waiting for — an acknowledgment that pushing untested vaccines and authoritarian lockdowns on the word of a proven liar was, perhaps, not his brightest moment.

“I don’t know who gave him the commendation,” Trump replied. “I really don’t know who gave him the commendation. Somebody probably handed him a commendation.”

With a warp speed quickness, folks on X offered the 2024 hopeful a wry refresher.

Former President Trump is defending his record on COVID-19, saying he never got the “credit that I deserved” on how he managed the pandemic as president.

“I got a lot of good marks on economy. I got a lot of good marks on a lot of things. Rebuilding the military, getting rid of ISIS, the biggest tax cuts in history,” Trump said in an interview on SiriusXM’s “The Megyn Kelly Show” airing Thursday. “I never got, I think, the credit that I deserved on COVID.”

With much of his political base skeptical of coronavirus vaccines, Trump, the front-runner for the 2024 GOP presidential nomination, has tried tread carefully when touting the success of his Operation Warp Speed, which developed highly effective and safe vaccines in record time.

In his interview with Kelly, Trump touted his accomplishments by quoting “very smart” Democrats who, he said, tell him that “you saved a hundred million people worldwide” with the vaccines.

I believe he truly does not remember. I also believe that's because he has absolutely no attention to detail, and will sign whatever's put in front of him unless it happens to be a specific issue that he cares about. In which case, he still won't read it, but he'll trust somebody else to explain it to him.

   Their tried-and-true counterpoint is Polling (either Trump is so UP or DeSantis is so down) just like their Leader.

And here’s the thing: I fought against Fauci when he was popular. It’s easy for Republicans to ding him now because he’s unpopular with the broader electorate. Back then, Donald Trump used to cite Fauci’s poll numbers as a reason why Fauci was somebody that should be listened to. He said, ‘Fauci has got these great poll numbers, but we’re listening to Fauci, why don’t we have the same poll numbers?’ And his campaign for reelection, in October of 2020, they were running videos where Fauci is bragging that ‘Donald Trump did everything I told him to do.’ They were putting that out as a positive message for their candidate!
