Ron DeSantis has got to be more than just the governor who fights wokeness and Disney if he wants any hope of winning the White House.

Totally agree.  I'm with him on the woke stuff, but there needs to be more after he has declared and is mounting a full campaign.

Scorched earth...just like 2015-16.

Never mind the fact that he's gonna need to win Florida if he wants back in the WH.

Right, going after DeSantis is a huge mistake.  It's going to cost him.

I know I will not be voting for Donald Trump if he’s the nominee, but I haven’t committed if I would be voting for Ron DeSantis.

I understand that he is not announced any run for the presidency yet so right now his priority is running his state  His record on spending in Congress was much better than Donald Trump’s as president so he has that advantage.

Leadership and taking on the left.  That's what a lot of America wants and that's what DeSantis is doing on the state level.

You notice how the left...from Biden to Governor Brill Cream to the social media propagandists aren't going after Trump...they are going after the one they are most afraid of...the Governor of Florida.

It's also why Trump is going after him too.
The libs/dems of today are the Quislings of former years. The cowards who would vote a fraud into office in exchange for handouts from the devil.

Let's step back a minute; DeSantis opened FL up in phases during COVID and that is why hundreds of thousands have moved to FL, we are considered a 'free state' as he has stood up to D.C. Our population has exploded.  A concealed weapon's permit is no longer needed in FL to carry.  His quick and continued response to Hurricane Ian is unbelievable. He also dealt with hurricane Nicole and Michael. The Heritage Foundation listed FL as #1 in Education Freedom and FL is now known as the education state.  He has committed $5 billion to workforce education. He just signed the 6 week abortion bill. Those come to mind, but there are other accomplishments that he needs to be commended for.

No, he hasn't announced and I will be surprised if he does decide to run.

I understand and agree with all that.  Those are great accomplishments, but all we're hearing about now is the woke stuff.  So as I said, I hope he broadens that message once he declares.

I'd be shocked if he didn't. The recent announcements from people like Pompeo and Youngkin are further evidence to me that the anti-Trump forces in the GOP are clearing the deck for a single challenger.   He's currently visiting early primary states, and independent PACs are continuing to collect money to support his campaign. If he wasn't running, there are no advantages and plenty of disadvantages to him not making that clear.  Just for starters, it would take him out of Trump's sights and end the distraction of the constant attacks.

But I imagine we'll know for sure in the next couple of weeks.  If a Florida legislative session ends without a bill being passed enabling DeSantis to run without resigning his office, then we'll know he's out.  If they pass it, we'll know he's in because they wouldn't bother otherwise.

If he has decided to run I think he would be wise to wait till the last minute to declare his candidacy. Trump will go absolutely ballistic on him once he officially announces.

I think he is kind of boxed in by the legislative calendar.  Once the legislature amends the law to permit him to run for president without resigning the governorship, the pressure for him to make a formal announcement would be immense.  Everyone would know that an announcement is coming at that point, and having it drag out for too long doesn't make a lot of sense.

My guess is that if the legislature passes that legislation, it will be during the week of May 1.DeSantis would likely announce a date for a major press conference for sometime in the next week, and announce then.  So probably no later than the 15th.

So when is Trump going to start going after what should be the real target of his barbs?

You know...Joe Biden.

Trump has been @txradioguy  ---- in speeches, policy videos and pretty effective ads.

Trump tells Disney to move OUT of Florida in their war with Ron DeSantis

Donald Trump has urged Disney to leave Florida in a move that would be a financial 'killer' for Ron DeSantis.

So Trump is now going after not just a Republican governor, but an entire Republican state.

BTW @Maj. Bill Martin  ---- Here's what President Trump actually said -----  He's warning Ronny to stop f*^king around before he really screws up and causes the worst to happen:

Better to wait a little longer and let the Orange Menace continue to damage himself out of fear and paranoia.  A little political judo, if you will.

There used to be an old saying, "The business of America is Business".

With this government official insanity in the US, Disney might be better off to move outside the US completely.
Then Disney should have minded their business and not have gotten involved in the legislation surrounding pornographic and pro-LGBTQ literature and teachings in public schools.
They started this fight, not Desantis. And as far as Trump is concerned, I suppose this is more of that 16 dimensional chess is he famous for...but siding with pedo grooming Disney is an absolutely idiotic position to take.
Throwing our allegiances to political parties in the long run gave away our liberty.

They should also not have gotten into the business of running their own quasi municipality, either.

Wrong or right Trump will always side against DeSantis.

Best thing you can do is put Trump under pressure, get him to lose his temper, then let his own words and actions discredit him in the minds of everyone but the most committed.

Hit him where he is weakest - Covid, appointments, etc..  Covid is a particularly vulnerable point because his ego won't let him admit to any mistakes, so he'll keep doubling down.

If Trump wants to win the WH, he is going to need the GA, AZ, MI, WI, and PA.

In reality, he is going to lose states, plus NC, and TX are going to be a lot closer than one believes.

Yeah... but like @txradioguy says, he's SOL from the get-go without FL.

If loses FL, what is he going to do blame it on voter fraud.

If it’s Trump vs Biden, Trump will carry Florida

I see no scenario were Biden or any Democrat takes Florida in 2024
I have little interest in streamlining government or in making it more efficient, for I mean to reduce its size. I do not undertake to promote welfare, for I propose to extend freedom. My aim is not to pass laws, but to repeal them.

Even if he slaughters their very popular governor on the altar of his ego?

Even with that

No Democrat Presidential candidate is going to carry the state in 2024
