Cardinal Dolan Prays for Unborn, Police, Migrants, and Military at Republican National Convention

New York Cardinal Timothy Dolan offered an invocation on the opening evening of the Republican National Convention, underscoring the importance of prayer at this moment in the nation’s history.

Over and over during his invocation, Cardinal Dolan repeated the refrain “pray we must,” insisting that gratitude and neediness impel Americans to turn to God to thank Him for his abundant blessings and to invoke Him for the many intentions that require divine assistance.

“Let us pray. And pray we must, as grateful citizens of a country we boldly claim to be one nation under God,” the cardinal said. “Pray we must, praising the Lord for a country where freedom of religion is so cherished.”

Both Republicans and Democrats begin their conventions “heads bowed in prayer,” Dolan observed, a visible image of one nation, under God.

The cardinal called down God’s blessings and protection on those suffering from COVID and on “our troubled cities and the police who guard them.”

He went on to pray for “our men and women in uniform” who keep the peace, as well as “the innocent life of the baby in the womb.”

Hollywood elites expressed disgust and even physical revulsion during the first night of the Republican National Convention, ruthlessly mocking the evening’s speakers for supporting the reelection of President Donald Trump. “Is it just me or is anyone else throwing up right now?” Rob Reiner asked at the top of the broadcast.

Celebrities including Alec Baldwin, Bette Midler, Dave Bautista, and anti-Trump comedian Kathy Griffin joined in the mockery, providing snarky commentary of Monday’s virtual convention. Many of those same stars were quiet during last week’s Democratic National Convention in the latest indication that the left’s hatred of Trump outweighs their passion for Joe Biden.

Rob Reiner asked if anyone else is “throwing up right now?” at the start of Monday’s convention.

I thought it was a very good start to the convention; so much better than the Democrats.  A nicely staged, professional affair; none of those cheesy Zoom boxes all over the TV screen with yapping and hysterical supporters.  The night scenes of DC monuments were a really nice visual montage. I liked seeing the President in various rooms of the White House discussing topics with his supporters; a nice, warm personal touch.  The speakers were good, though I would have preferred a more toned down Miss Guilfoyle.  The Cuban businessman Maximo Alvarez had a particularly good heartfelt speech.  Senator Scott was very convincing. And Herschel Walker popping up from Texas was cool!  An excellent start to the convention I think.

Well, here's a feel good story sure to put a smile on your face.  The jackasses are unhappy.

Big Fails: Kimberly yelling to empty room. Seriously WTF was that? She said some dopey things about her mother's immigration when she was already a US citizen but the delivery was so bad 

Nikki Halley was a big disappointment. I hate to target two women but  they missed the mark.

DTj: he spoke so fast I could barely keep up with is speech. Another delivery issue, like his gf. His points were hard to follow because he was going 120 in a 65mph freeway.

Uh, we were critical of the libtards for pre recording speeches. Trump Jr and his gf should have done that for theirs. Or at least a dress rehearsal  Kim you have a mic you don't have to talk that loud. It's TV, and you are in an empty room. You look and sound like a fool.

Okay looking forward to today.

Scott  listed achievements by President Trump never accomplished by Biden in 47 years or the democrats ever.  The President's successes go directly to the hearts of Scott's target audience:  jobs and economic opportunity zones, funding for Black colleges, undoing Joe Biden's crime bill that affected Blacks more than any group and passing true prison reform, and the President's unwavering fight for school choice --- be it Charter, private or home schooling.

Very powerful stuff and very meaningful to Black voters--- who are on the brink of becoming a new constituency of the GOP.

First night of GOP convention delivers nearly six times more views than start of Democrats' event on C-SPAN livestream

C-SPAN's livestream of the first night of the Republican National Convention has attracted nearly 440,000 views, marking a substantial increase over the start of the Democratic National Convention, which drew 76,000 views.

The numbers for Monday night come ahead of traditional TV ratings from Nielsen Media Research, which will be released on Tuesday afternoon.

According to Nielsen, 18.7 million people tuned in to the first night of the virtual Democratic convention from Milwaukee and Wilmington, Del., on Aug. 17, which featured speeches from former first lady Michelle Obama and former Ohio Gov. John Kasich (R)

Uh, the only criticism I heard of DNC prerecording was in response to rapturous media reports of how well Biden did in his acceptance speech. Accurate criticism.

I just read some news stories describing how CNN and MSNBC kept interrupting the coverage, with running commentary and "fact checking."  One of the CNN broads complained that no one was wearing a mask during the get togethers with Mr. Trump.  Hello!!!?? The guests were probably tested for COVID before the event since the president requires it of anyone that visits him; staff et al.

GOP convention's first night draws fewer viewers than Democratic kickoff

The Republican National Convention averaged 15.9 million viewers on its opening night, falling short of the 18.7 million who tuned in for the beginning of last week's Democratic convention, according to Nielsen Media Research figures released Tuesday.

Viewership on Monday evening was down 30 percent from the first night of the 2016 GOP convention, similar to the 28 percent decline from four years ago for Democrats.

Fox News led all networks on Monday with 7.06 million viewers in the 10 p.m. ET hour, when former U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley (R) and Sen. Tim Scott (R-S.C.) were among those giving speeches.


CNN was second with 2.009 million viewers, followed by ABC with 1.978 million.
