I saw the Judge J.'s yelling program and very close to the end, across bottom of screen, was "President Trump Teases "Very Big Announcement". That was it.

Trump Approves Special Ops Raid Targeting ISIS Leader Baghdadi, Military Says He's Dead
Newsweek, Oct 26, 2019 10:45 PM EDT

The United States military has conducted a special operations raid targeting one of its most high-value targets, Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, the leader of the Islamic State militant group (ISIS), Newsweek has learned. President Donald Trump approved the mission nearly a week before it took place.

Amid reports Saturday of U.S. military helicopters over Syria's northwestern Idlib province, a senior Pentagon official familiar with the operation and Army official briefed on the matter told Newsweek that Baghdadi was the target of the top-secret operation in the last bastion of the country's Islamist-dominated opposition, a faction that has clashed with ISIS in recent years. A U.S. Army source briefed on the results of the operation told Newsweek that Baghdadi was killed in the raid. And the Defense Department told the White House they have "high confidence" that the high-value target killed was Baghdadi, but further verification is pending.

Members of a team from the Joint Special Operations Command carried out Saturday's high-level operation after receiving actionable intelligence, according to sources familiar with the operation. The location raided by special operations troops had been under surveillance for some time.

On Saturday night, after the operation had concluded, President Trump tweeted: "Something very big has just happened!" The White House announced later that the president will make a "major statement" Sunday morning at 9:00 a.m.

Approximately 5 hours ago, 7-8 helicopters flew from Turkish areas into Idlib. The helicopter flight consisted of transport helicopters and gunships. At the same time, several UAVs and 2 jets flew overhead. The helicopters targeted an area in Northern Idlib called "Barisha"

Idlib is a contested area between Turkey, Syria and Russia. POTUS must have told them not to interfere.

Yes, imprisoning El Chapo has really stopped the drug trade and killing bin Laden stopped terrorism. Well, it still needs to be done if we got him. It sounds like we did so good for the SOF and allies who helped beat back ISIS. It will be a continuing war for some time to come.

I see reports he was killed, Newsweek is on top of this apparently right now.

I'd believe we got him while in the back of my mind, knowing, some of these folks have been "killed" before.

Good that they got him, but no victory dance. They will have another to take his place. Maybe one that escaped during Turkeys ethnic cleansing of the Kurds.

1. The Kurds have not been ethnically cleansed. They are living in NE Syria, protected by their own forces and the Syrian army from Turkey's (notice the apostrophe) forces. With a buffer zone Turkey can care less where the Kurds live in Syria ... so "the Kurds" are quite literally better off without us.

Defense One is reliable.... so, we might have sent in a number of helicopters in from some twitter chatter.

Allies might have helped in this. Now, see how important allies are? What if we don't have them in some dangerous area like Iraq/Syria. At the least, the issue needs to be explored more.

Looks like the story went first to Newsweek, hours before Fox and CNN.

He killed himself and two of his lovely wives.

No children were injured.
