@mystery-ak Heard this morning, senators who left to go home have been called back.
Trump calls for 'nuclear option' to ram border wall funding through the Senateby Pete Kasperowicz | December 21, 2018 07:59 AMPresident Trump on Friday called on the Senate to change the rules so Republicans can pass a bill funding his border wall over the objections of Senate Democrats."Mitch, use the Nuclear Option and get it done!" If he's counting on Mitch... I'm afraid he's in for a huge let-down.
Is it mandatory though that they come back or do they have the option not to?
Unless it contained the full amount for the entire project, it would be a foolish use of the option. As it is, the House bill is only 20% and that would be the last dime he saw for it until at least 2021.
If he doesn't do it now, it's not going to happen at all.
You’re content with 1/5th of a wall, steel slats, or whatever they choose to call it tomorrow?
No, why would you think that?
Headlines have read that the House voted to give the $5B for his wall?? What am I missing here?
Nobody ever made McCain show up.
The cost of the full project has been repeatedly quoted at $25B. Simple percentages.
It’s a fair question, because that’s all you’re going to get between now and 2021, with a potential power shift in congress, again. Trump we go into re-election with a .200 batting average on the wall. Somehow, I don’t think that Mendoza-like performance will cut it for most.
I had not heard that. The MSM has only repeatedly reported Trump requesting $5B.
Again, what does that have to do with getting this tranche or not?
You just answered it yourself, by using the word ‘tranche.’ That means a portion and there won’t be any more wall money coming through a Pelosi controlled House. So, you’re either content with that for two years, or you’re not.
No, that is not correct. There are not only two options. I am not content with only this portion, but we do need to get this first.
