Trump calls for 'nuclear option' to ram border wall funding through the Senate
by Pete Kasperowicz
 | December 21, 2018 07:59 AM

President Trump on Friday called on the Senate to change the rules so Republicans can pass a bill funding his border wall over the objections of Senate Democrats.

"Mitch, use the Nuclear Option and get it done!" Trump said on Twitter. "Our Country is counting on you!"

If he's counting on Mitch... I'm afraid he's in for a huge let-down.

Unless it contained the full amount for the entire project, it would be a foolish use of the option. As it is, the House bill is only 20% and that would be the last dime he saw for it until at least 2021.
I disagree.  Circle gets the square.

That may be, but Trump put the burden of getting the vote on the shoulder's of the Senate leadership as it should be.  IF this doesn't pass the Senate, the Turtle will have mud on his face, BIGLY!

Is it mandatory though that they come back or do they have the option not to?

Exactly.  It passed the House now.  Highly unlikely that he will get the votes from the House when the DEM majority is sworn in, in January.

You’re content with 1/5th of a wall, steel slats, or whatever they choose to call it tomorrow?

Headlines have read that the House voted to give the $5B for his wall??  What am I missing here?

It’s a fair question, because that’s all you’re going to get between now and 2021, with a potential power shift in congress, again. Trump we go into re-election with a .200 batting average on the wall. Somehow, I don’t think that Mendoza-like performance will cut it for most.

The cost of the full project has been repeatedly quoted at $25B.  Simple percentages.

They probably didn't need to call Traitor Flake back....

That would have made as much sense as calling Flake back....

I had not heard that.  The MSM has only repeatedly reported Trump requesting $5B.

Again, what does that have to do with getting this tranche or not?

It’s been referred to quite often and was even part of the DACA negotiations, earlier this year.

WASHINGTON (AP) -- Top Senate Democrat Chuck Schumer on Tuesday pulled back an offer of $25 billion for President Donald Trump's long-promised southern border wall, as lawmakers scrambled to figure out how to push a deal to protect 700,000 or more so-called Dreamer immigrants from deportation.

You just answered it yourself, by using the word ‘tranche.’ That means a portion and there won’t be any more wall money coming through a Pelosi controlled House. So, you’re either content with that for two years, or you’re not.

No, that is not correct.  There are not only two options.  I am not content with only this portion, but we do need to get this first.

Prioritized properly, that $5 Billion would help quite a lot in high-volume areas like Mexicali.  Of course, this is government, and it's equally likely the money would be wasted building a wall from Nogales to New Mexico.  Sabotage by Bureaucrat.

That’s curious. Other than a portion or none, what other option has the House bill given the Senate?
