Trump asks Ronna McDaniel to stay for second term at RNC helm

President Trump has requested that Republican National Committee chairwoman Ronna McDaniel remain at the head of the GOP's national body for a second term, according to a report.
Trump asked McDaniel to stay after being impressed with her work furthering his "America First" policies and her leadership of the party's infrastructure, including her efforts to encourage grassroots engagement and contributions from donors, Axios reported Sunday.
The RNC in 2018 broke multiple records for its fundraising hauls. It has also already conducted outreach with 50 million voters ahead of November's midterm elections, the most ever for the organization.
Although the role of RNC chair is an elected position, the president traditionally makes a recommendation. Trump suggested McDaniel replace Reince Priebus when he officially left the post in 2017 to become White House chief of staff.
