In my view, L.A. and Invar are simply two sides of that same coin.

That's fine.  I see you, your kind and rabid Obama-worshipping Liberal Democrats as being the same exact coin also.
Fart for freedom, fart for liberty and fart proudly.  - Benjamin Franklin

...Obsta principiis—Nip the shoots of arbitrary power in the bud, is the only maxim which can ever preserve the liberties of any people. When the people give way, their deceivers, betrayers and destroyers press upon them so fast that there is no resisting afterwards. The nature of the encroachment upon [the] American constitution is such, as to grow every day more and more encroaching. Like a cancer, it eats faster and faster every hour." - John Adams, February 6, 1775

I struggle with letting idiocy stand unchallenged...that’s how that nonsense advances.

Yes, but there are some who fight idiocy with more idiocy.  (not you)

As a conservative does Cruz actually have only two choices? More and more every day the Republican Party is no longer conservative. My Dad was an avid Reagan supporter. I voted for Nixon in my first election and have stayed Republican ever since, though becoming more and more disillusioned as time went on. I stayed Republican because of the slogan of "Limited Government". What a fool I was. During the 2008 election, when the Republican Party took no stand on Obama's unproven qualifications, I halted any and all donations to the RNC. I took those funds and donated to the lawyers who were trying to prove Obama's ineligibility. You must think me a Maroon, but that's what I did. I must be an independent now. I only donate to individual candidates and vote similarly. My 2 sons voted for the independents in the last election. I have been praying for a 3rd party to take off for a long time. I just hate to think I'm throwing my vote away, but there is something to be said about standing by your principles. So I have still been voting Republican and I dream of a Conservative third party.

Neocons like the Bushes invaded and took over the party back in the 80's. Happily the neocons are
now fleeing the Republican party. So there is hope we can return the GOP to it's main street
middle American roots.

LOL!

It strange, when the first thing I have to do after reading that is to see look again at who wrote it.

Is it a 'dog whistle'?  If so, are they talking about primarily Jews?

Remember?  We had a thread about constituted a "NEOCON".

It would have been nice to get rid of all the Establishment types at the last GOP convention instead of the winning candidate ceding them even more power

Excuse me?

I get it.

There's nothing religious about the label.  It's just a genuine coincidence that the self-appointed heirs to William Buckley sitting around in sweaters all happen to be Jewish and Ivy League educated.

And "philosophy" is a perfect description, as that's ALL they do is critique and opine.

Lots of resources on the web, bing or google are one's friends and it's not hard to read up.

What I find disturbing is when so-called Trump supporters are calling Christian Americans, the American Taliban (as used at the Daily Kos) and are not going along with Trump's pro-life agenda. It is no wonder, there is so much division but so it goes.

Cruz and Trump were allies in the early going, they held that "stop the Iran deal" rally together. Enough revisionism of history.

Some who claim they support Cruz, really don't seem to and have called others the nastiest of names for having the same views as Ted Cruz.

Though, I am obvioulsy have not been a fan of DJT, I see nothing but good news in this visit.

DJT sees that Cruz has supported his agenda so far, and i for one can accept this olive branch as a good faith re-start towards amicable relations with the Trump and his supporters.  Hopefully the hatchet has been offically buried.

OTOH...  slanderous blather from a few in particular here towards Senator Cruz will continue to get scorn.  I hope the other Trump supporters here will help reign in this particular idiot in the spirit of a new start.

Thank you President Trump, for helping us dispose of Beto!

 :amen:

Great perspective, to be successful in pursuing a political agenda people need to be pragmatic. My enemy yesterday may be my friend today if we are pursuing the same goals.

Trump is only one man.

Trump is only one man who allowed the GOP Establishment pick his delegates for him - delegates who would later place even more power in the hands of the GOPe.

It is our job to clean up the GOP in the primaries.

Ted Cruz was on the ground doing exactly that in places like Colorado while Trump supporters were cheering on the GOPe in their attempt to take over the state primary process.

Trump is exposing them which makes our job easier. :)

Trump is doing no such thing.  The battle was fought in 2016.  The Establishment won handily, thanks to Donald Trump.  And while people like Ted Cruz were in the trenches fighting against the GOPe, Trump supporters were calling him every nasty thing in the book.  So please don't come here and spout this BS as if we don't remember how it went down in 2016.  We do.  And in 2020, the fight against the GOPe will be even harder, thanks to Trump.

Boy, they sure do keep showing their true colors. The never ending funeral of mccain is a great example, any opportunity to bash Trump is used no matter how crass.

It's been a real pleasure to see Trump try and fulfill his campaign promises and I don't mind admitting I was wrong about him. It's a shame so many elected Pubs can't do the same and get behind him.

But I think Democrat Casey is going to be re-elected to the Senate.  Barletta sounds like token Republican opposition at best.

Lou is the best retail pol we have put up against Casey and he is super popular in the "T". Lou also has the President behind him and Casey as painted himself into a super Lib corner as of late.

It would probably be more effective if somebody got Obama to stump for Beto.

Trump and Cruz really show the importance of party unity, away from the so-called Cruz supporter idiots who called others orange hacks or orange brigadiers, whatever they said because someone has the same views as Cruz.

Well, I don't know about your end of the state, but Barletta hasn't really campaigned in western PA.  He finally started to run an ad here, but it's rather lame.  Meanwhile, Casey's people are hitting Barletta hard in the ads.    People here don't really know Barletta, so since they think all politicians are crooks, they will vote for the crook they know.

I'm not that thrilled with him.  Most Republicans in this state are liberal and I think Barletta is one of them.  Make the same promises yet again, then renege,  tax and spend, sit on their duffs and collect a check.  Might as well vote Democrat.  I won't, but it's tempting.

I don't know that we helped you much.  Our opinions I think are influenced by which part of the state we are from.  One thing I never liked here in the west is that we residents are treated like the poor relations.  The state throws us a few crumbs, while the capital (Harrisburg) and points east benefit from Harrisburg's largesse.  Our roads, public transit, state services and infrastructure are all worse in the west than in the east. I suppose that has something to do with why Barletta hasn't had much of a presence here.  We are third class and the unions in Pittsburgh have ensured the Democrats will always rule here.  He probably figures, why bother?

Might help Barletta on this side of the state if Trump stumped for him here.  Barletta has indicated he supports Trump, and I believe Trump did appear for him in the eastern part of the state.  If Trump and Barletta want to win, maybe they should come here so we can get to know the candidate.

It was good @Emjay, we're going to the river road ice house tonight to hear Sunny Sweeney.  Too recently divorced (9 months) and still somewhat bitter (hopefully this too shall pass) though sweet and fun to be around.  We had coffee this morning and I will BBQ tomorrow for her and her equally lovely Daughter.
