On the big issues, I don't make excuses for ANYONE.   And I'm not making any excuses over this lame@ss, yet another nit-picking, minor issue.  I'm saying that some of you are being (and have been all along) unreasonable.   Big difference.

@XenaLee, a minor issue is something like the semantic difference between (in quotes) "wiretapping" and surveillance.  I defended Trump from those who attacked him on that.

This is a substantive illustration of a pattern of deceit the man child has had regarding donations.  Pledging something and then withholding it is stealing.  This is something that he could have easily rectified, were he an honest man.

And we are told over and over and over what a great man he is, with "the best" people... then even if he forgot, his staff should have this covered.  And even if they all forgot, a few words could handle it.

Trump made it a big issue.  Your complaint should be with him.
@txradioguy

If you took the word, "hate", out of some people's vocabulary, he/she wouldn't be able to post.  Now, tx, if you reject something based on facts you have, then you must hate it, whether it be plant, animal, or person - that is ridiculous.  I don't hate plant, animal, or person.  I am extremely allergic to shrimp, clam, crab, and I reject them, but I don't hate them.  Trump lies, that is a fact, and he is not fit to be president, but I don't hate him - he is what he is.  If he wasn't president, I wouldn't give a flip what he does.

That's not my recollection at all.   What I recall is that it ws a mostly throw away line at campaign rallies.

That's exactly what Limbaugh said about 'the wall' too.

I imagine before this regime is out - when bringing up all the things that were promised that never will happen or were just Kabuki Theater for public consumption - we will be told that all those promises were just 'throw away lines at campaign rallies'.

Which is a good lesson in understanding that whatever is said by someone running for office at campaign rallies, is utter bullshit - and only imbeciles vote for such people based on promises uttered on a campaign.

When the people give way, their deceivers, betrayers and destroyers press upon them so fast that there is no resisting afterwards. Like a cancer, it eats faster and faster every hour." - John Adams, February 6, 1775

Why did he say it and make a big deal about it if it's unimportant?

Has anyone read the link I posted up thread...Trump plans to donate his salary at the end of the year.

I got up late (insomniac) today and haven't had time to read all the posts.  So thanks for that info.

10 seconds.  Can't take 10 seconds?

He could easily direct someone to make it so.   "Direct my salary to __[Insert charity here]__"
Then sign the paper put in front of him a few days later.

Then, of course, he would be accused by the idiot left of grandstanding and just doing it for the photo-op PR purposes.

Remember how that worked during the Bush years?  Everything Bush did that was received well was accused of being a photo-op.

@mystery-ak The link describes it as a "joke", other than the Washington Post claiming it's real.  The Trumpists tell us not to believe the WaPo.  So what are we to do?

He wouldn't have to announce it.  Closed-door, do it.  Then when the press asks for proof, provide it.

And "He doesn't have enough time for trivialities" is the excuse?!?  He has plenty of time to comment on The Apprentice, yet not enough to donate like he promised.  Shows his (lack of) priorities.

How to lose credibility while posting:
1. Trump is never wrong.
2. Default to the most puerile emoticon you can find. This is especially useful when you can't win an argument on merits.
3. Be falsely ingratiating, completely but politely dismissive without talking to the points, and bring up Hillary whenever the conversation is really about conservatism.
4. When all else fails, remember rule #1 and #2. Emoticons are like the poor man's tweet!

I doubt he could.  Still gotta deal with the payroll taxes since it is salary.

He could take ten seconds to sign a check.  Today, tomorrow, or Dec 31 it doesn't really matter.

[Or, if he gives more than $400,000/year anyway, he could just claim that his salary is part of that, like how the lottery money is used "for education".  Not exactly honest, but I don't give quite that much myself]

I don't even care what he has or has not donated to charity, pledge or no pledge.  In fact, I couldn't possibly care less.  It has no bearing on my future or safety living in America.   In fact, if Trump does just ONE thing that I value most in this life..... ie secure the border and ergo, secure our national security and keep us safe from terrorism....I'll be a happy camper.

The minor BS like his tax returns, his campaign pledges on his salary and his donations can wait.  I can wait.

Now, now... don't go bringing facts to RIV's Trumpist wet-dream.

All politicians running for office are "con-men".   I challenge you to find one that has not said something they either couldn't or didn't follow through on.

And I have stated, more than once, that he needs to get his priorities straight, focus on them and stop with the distractions.  It's just one of his character flaws and warts we're going to have to deal with.  But we knew that.

I find it very interesting that the meme and zeitgeist to vote for Trump was that he was an outsider' and 'not a politician'.   We were told Trump is not your lie-in-the-wool political hack who says anything to anyone to get elected.  Yet today we are being told in response to Trump's neglect of certain 'promises' made,  that politicians lie on campaign trails and that we are unrealistic to expect them to adhere to, attempt or make their promises come true.  That it's 'not important', there are 'other issues more important'.

Fascinating.

It's amazing what cults of personality are able to achieve from their supporters in the excuse and absolve department when integrity has no value in the rulers they select for themselves.

Well I presume that our intel agencies are monitoring for any "Deep State" activities against this nation currently.  I'm more worried about Obama's buds on the outside of the USA and what they are up to.

Well see,  there we differ greatly.   I see the Intel agencies as being the primary force behind the "Deep State"  coup being pushed against Trump.

The State Department and the Intelligence agencies are chock a block full of Ivy league graduates with a liberal world view.

Think "Alger Hiss."   Yeah,  there are a lot of them like that in there.

Yeah,  there are "good guy"  people in the Intel services,  but there are a whole lot of bad ones in there too.

I want to see his tax returns.  Mainly because it's traditional for US presidents to release them and he needs to follow that tradition, plus show that he has nothing to hide.  But also because he said he would.  I expect to see them released before 2018, but I'm in no hurry.  Much more important things to care about right now.

I think that Trump's tax returns will be useful for nothing but fodder for the Democrats (and their useful idiots on our side)   to pick them apart looking for dirt,  and alleging wrong doing based on technicalities,  if they can't find any actual dirt.

I think Trump's tax returns are likely to be far more complicated than the average President, (President Obama idiot never really had any jobs or income other than Government.)  and therefore are likely to be rife with clever tax dodges,  all of which will be trumpeted by the Democrats as cheating the government.

They will simply be used to play into the meme that Trump is bad,  and this is regardless of what is actually in them.

The only defense against these sort of fabricated "fake news"  allegations is to not give them any fuel to work with in the first place.

One does not need to be a big "fan" of President Trump's to believe he should tell the press to go pound sand on every request for his personal financial information.  They've done nothing but bitch and complain about everything he's provided so far (or has been leaked by somebody), so why the heck should he give them the gunpowder to shoot him with?
